Re: The Lebron Thread | 2021 & Offseason
Has anybody seen anything about KD's movements to suggest a decline in physical ability? All I've seen are highlights/boxscores and he's looked pretty damn good on those fronts (though I too am not really afraid of Durant provided he doesn't have a GOAT-level team like in GS).

Behind the hype it’s pretty evident. Before the injury I felt he had a top first step in the NBA which IMO is gone. Also his change of direction with the ball has noticeably declined. Still a great player though, just not KEVIN DURANT.

Kds two games back so talking about declined movement is a bit pre mature. Following lebron we know how much his athletic ability can vary.

KD will always have his length and shooting touch which will keep him among the top players but yes he won't be quite the same without that dominant first step to take him to the basket.

I hope we see gasols playmaking get used more eventually
Defensively he didnt look great but i dont think last game was nearly as bad as people are saying, its just when his limitations show its really obvious

Re: The Lebron Thread | 2021 & Offseason
Once playoffs roll around im pretty confident this team>>last years team, which is craY because yall know how high i an on 2020 lakers (i think theyre a top 10 team ever).
Not ready to say we're chilling, because the nets look stupidly good, the clippers seem better coached, and the bucks just have to learn how to make adjustments
But its kind of insane we legit have 4 60+ win while coasting tier teams right now.
I dont see the nets being as good in the playoffs, the bucks have doubts on them
The clippers, are gonna be really interesting. Wish they kept doc tho lol.
The defensive potential of this team is gonna be really interesting, its gonna be rough at first but oncw we figure stuff out, i think over the second hlad of the year (untill we start coasting for the playoffs) we'll be a top 5 defense
Durants scary cuz hes durant but honestly i think we're better than the nets. I think we match up well vs the bucks, and i feel they might choke again too
Even knowing what happened last year, The lakers vs clippers matchup is still prolly the one im worried aboutu. I think we'll win in 6 or 7 though, but i feel no one knows bron better than lue (and vice versa tbf)

I think fitness/athleticism for KD will be at peak right now with the fresh legs after 18 months off. He's as healthy as he's probably been for a long time right now. As the season goes on the ligaments get a little looser, the inflammation starts picking up and the limitations on movement will increase and the risk of injury will be enhanced. It's not just damage of the achilles that was a concern with KD, it's the predisposition of wear and tear that led to the achilles.
I don't think the Nets get to the conference finals tbh.

2020 Lakers defense was a marvel, but I'm glad Rob and Co. went for a more balanced roster instead of running it back.
Honestly, the Nets and this years iteration of the Clips look deadly and idk if running it back with aging vets would be smart against these two teams.

Could have a similar start to last season. If they're even remotely engaged they shouldn't fall to any of these teams.

Yep. It’s funny reading these KD stans on the GB wanting to give him the mantle he never had lmao. I’m rooting for Durant to beat the odds though.

I think the Nets are a lock for the finals. All the other eastern teams are crazy underwhelming despite being starstudded. The Nets have two players whose shot are really only impacted by the law of averages being boosted by a good offensive system. Lakers may look better in the playoffs because contrary to what people say, Lebron excels in controlling half court playoff grind it out tempo.

I’d still be interested in seeing what Spo can do vs them.

I always side with star power and said before the season nets would make the finals. Was never as low on kds Injury as most.

Lakers are a bad matchup for the Nets. Davis is essentially the perfect counter to Durant. I think he can legitimately shut him down as a man defender unless Durant is just ridiculously hot with his jumper or uses screens to get Davis off him.

I think it is far more likely that they get bounced in first two rounds. You have to remember that both Irving and Durant are injury prone and we are having an intense season schedule this year. I think there's a 50% chance one gets injured for playoffs and a 20% chance that current team chemistry erodes. So that's about a 60% chance they don't make the finals by my estimate.

For me,I would be shocked if the Nets are not at least in the ECF if KD is healthy. This is my pick to win the east.

Re: The Lebron Thread | 2021 & Offseason
Injury is the only concern imo. Despite kyries difficult personality I think he’s a great mesh with kd on and off the court.
They’re deep so if the two stars get rest through the season I’d favour them to make the finals. KD, if healthy is still significantly better than anyone in the east. The gap between him and giannis is really big imo.

12-2 is possible even if LBJ has some load management.
