Man, getting the 4th worst record might be a real possibility. Orlando playing well (they beat the pelicans with the pels not having ball, Ingram and Zion but still). They have like an emotional boost with the new acquisitions.
Perfect time to keep this losing going and undercut them.

Cole Anthony is due back any time now.

Yeah said this a couple times in this thread because from his style of play, his intangibles on and off court and just overall bball IQ, he was about as "ideal" of a "cultural" fit as there is....but that was also before we just traded for Trent.
Ahead of time I know Suggs projects to be a much better facilitator for others but the rest of his game (not to mention measurables) are quite similar to Trent's. I think Suggs would however replace some of the leadership and intangibles of Kyle. Question is does simply replacing Lowry (even a better version) make us that much better than today?? We still have other obvious needs.
For that reason I'd actually say Cade or Mobley would actually be more ideal fits with Mobley actually filling a glaring hole. Both guys still have great intangibles and personalities that would fit the existing "core'.
With Cade you just can't go wrong because he's a 6'8 point forward that will help the rebounding, defensive versatility even more so and also takeover in clutch moments as well as the ballhandling which allows Fred to be his most effective as a spot shooter. With Mobley, it's the obvious, we having a gigantic hole in the post which he immediately completely changes as he projects to be an outstanding defender and of course good rebounder. He also has some shooting touch that will open the lanes back up for Pascal and now Trent to create. His natural fit with the overall lineup may actually be the easiest. The only shortcoming I see and why I'd favor Cade is someone to takeover in big moments in crunch time in the Playoffs. Seen Cade do it, Mobley not sure bit imo right now projects as an elite 2nd option offensively but a top defensive anchor in the league so it's a tough call but I favor big playmakers because those are the players that win you series and big games.
All that said I'd kill for anyone in the top 5 and only pray this ever becomes a real discussion when the draft rolls around.
I want the Raps to be bigger, but I also want them to be competitive against next year. A big like Mobley is going to take at least a year of development and weight training.
So Cade is the ideal choice, not just because he's the BPA of the entire draft. We'd use the cap space to bring in an experienced C. Drafting Suggs would allow us to trade Trent at some point down the line, maybe as soon as the restriction comes off. At least Trent's big enough to play a small SF while we have him. If we can re-sign him for ~$15 mill, he'll be a marketable commodity. Maybe finally get Turner.

I’d rather trade FVV than Trent if we get Suggs. A Suggs+Trent backcourt would have great size and be able to grow together for another 5+ years until they even reach their primes. FVV could get us a nice Center like Turner

Personally I'd go in this order...
Jalen Johnson
James Bouknight
Josh Christopher
Zaire Williams
Scottie Barnes
Kai Jones
Isaiah Todd

4th worst puts us in a great position no matter the lottery results.
Masai is for sure looking into Cade and Suggs.
Then if you fall short of the 4/5. Trading down for 10/18 is realistic. OKC has to cash in soon or the value dies a bit.
Ayo and Kai Jones are the current guys for me. 2 birds one stone kind of deal.
A better shooting Delon Wright and a young Bosh would elevate this team to at least perennial conference finalist.
Bosh
Siakam
OG
Joe Johnson
Fred
I'm not sure how I would feel about capping out like that. If this were Ayo/GTJ and Kai Jones final form (prime) is that really enough?
Can we compete with a top 5 player? That puts us against league business agenda.
Can we be getting attacked on two fronts and win another championship?
I don't know. I would bet against it. The ultimate goal right now should be to get Cade, Green, or Suggs and then develop them to be superstars. We have a great environment for that to happen. We just need a guy to plug in there between Siakam and OG.
An elite rookie like Cade would come and fit like a glove. I am sure cade could lead the Raptors to the ECF as soon as next season.
Suggs would help Siakam and OG both have career years. He would be a triple double threat from the 2. I could see the team being better with him than Cade. He has that football mentality and improves the play of everyone around him.
We have to tank as hard as possible at all costs.

Would prefer to avoid Mobley. It’s clear that drafting a top big means a high chance of getting a Wiseman/Ayton/Bagley rather than an AD or Embiid. If they don’t have elite inside/outside skills they will end up being a role player/bust in today’s NBA.
I would take Cade/Suggs/Kuminga before I take Mobley.

Mobley is better than all 3 of those guys, but Ayton’s also not really a bust although picking a wing over him isn’t a bad idea.

Thing I like about Mobley is his passing. Has a great feel for the game. I don’t think he’ll bust unless it’s injury related. Needs to add some strength to his frame but that will come with age.
I would be thrilled with a top 3 pick. Cade, Mobley and Suggs can be franchise changers

I think there is a lot of overvaluing mobility on the offensive side and shooting range, and it's really screwing with judging how impactful big men will be in their NBA careers.

Does Jalen Green have a mid range game? I don't mean can he hit a pull up mid range. I mean does he know how to get a clean look in the midrange, does he have a fade away or turn around that he can use?

Re: The Official Cunningham vs Suggs Thread #Tank4Either
Knowing how the NBA operates and what we need in terms of team weakness I'd say my top 2 picks for Raptors would be Cade and Jalen Green. GREEN will be a household name and a marketable flashy player thst will for sure help this team get on the national networks plus hopefully a favorable whistle and players wanting to join.
Green will get 10+ ft a game tbh.
I'd say Cade because he'd make everyone so much better plus he can get his shot off, has size and a great feel for game. We desperately need guys that can get their shot off or create off the dribble and get to ft line at will.
Suggs and Mobley would be the next 2, I feel like these two are literally Raptor players both somewhat loekey but great and media won't give enough love to a guy like Mobley if he's a Raptor.. kinda like Bosh. SUGgs I've said before would be the ultimate Lowry replacement but honestly I do hope we can somehow pick up Green or Cade based off of need and betterment of team in general.

Impressive, I didnt think his handles were this good. Almost looks like a more athletic Bradley Beal.

I guess it's like choosing between Pierce and Kobe, then between Wade and Bosh. Kuminga is 5th.

Kai isn't a standard Jaxson Hayes type, he's capable of very fluid perimeter movement and jumping high on blocks yes but you aren't drafting him for his defense (he was a bad defender in college expecting him to be good vs Pros anytime soon is prob misguided)
Kai is interesting for his offense, he's got the tools for the rim runner component, but he's also flashed being a fluid driver (even some live dribble dimes) and shot-making both from midrange and from 3.
It all flashes though which is why he's such a gamble especially since he is a year older than most lottery prospects
I'd like to get your opinion HeadtopChunes
Who would you look to select with the 7th pick or if we got a top 3 pick for the Raptors, based on what you've seen while watching these prospects?
Top 3 is pretty easy for me, I think the general consensus of Cade, Mobley then Suggs is correct would just go in that order.
I'm still sorting out everyone not them though so I don't have a rock-solid opinion yet, right now would lean towards this group very loosely in this order assuming the top 3 and the Ignite boys are gone.
- Jalen Johnson
- Keon Johnson
- Jaden Springer
- Moses Moody
- Ziaire Williams
Springer, Moody and Williams I like personally. Jalen Johnson is interesting but his shooting worries me. Keon Johnson I see the defensive ability but no creation ability. He is a smooth athlete that could be molded though.

I now settled on Cade, Green and Suggs as top 3 with Mobley and Kuminga 4/5.
I could see both Mobley and Kuminga being worked in slowly off the bench.

I'm pretty aligned to this breakdown. I think the current odds hold for a top pick (or slip a little) and there's not much point talking about the top 3 because - if the Raps overcome the odds, obviously they take one of the top names.
Assuming they're 7-9, I see the team looking at Moody, Barnes and Wagner given a) the kind of players they've preferred and b) the type of systems Nurse likes on both ends. I assume Cade, Mobley, Suggs, Green (who has momentum and is top 3 on some boards) and Kuminga will be gone.
