if you read the article denver may be using the whole rental scenario to try to get the nets to ante up without melo's extension. they don't really want what the mavs are offering. i'd laugh if the nets are stupid enough to do that.

+1
For real. I'm not even mad at New Jersey or their fans for all this. They are being used. Shame on Denver.

You are correct. For Denver to deal with those rental teams, they would be screwing themselves HARD to make a point.

The Nets. lol.

Think about this though: If the Nuggets are considering a rental deal sending him to Dallas, doesn't that mean that he doesn't want the Nets? Bottom line here is that if Melo is willing to sign an extension in NJ, it's clear that he's going there. All this other stuff, now including Dallas, indicates that Melo is still not interested in Nyets.

Melo would much rather try to play for a NBA Championship this year then play on the one and done Nuggets or NJ Nyets.. Hell i would hate it, but maybe he would like playing with Dirk.. It would be hard for him to leave if they make the western finals or the finals itself.

but the mavs can offer nothing but expiring contracts and first round picks that are almost in the second round. why in the world would denver take that ?

Denver would be cutting off their nose to spite their face if they take a rental offer.

I still think it's possible that the Nyets are ready to rent Melo with a lottery pick and/or Favors.

If they really want to trade lotto picks and Favors for nothing, good luck to them.

People really need to stop with this "Donnie needs to do something". There is nothing he can do if they aren't ready to come to the table with us.

That is like saying "The Nets really need to be more aggressive in signing Melo to an extension." What can they do if he won't even consider the option?

right, there's nothing to be done right now. we have to wait until the nets and denver finish trying to convince melo to go there. then we'll be able to negotiate a deal.

How the hell are the Nets going to surround Carmelo with all this amazing talent Woj is talking about? Teams are going to ship them some non-broken-down, non-over-the-hill impact players for some late 1st round picks? What would they have left to trade after they got Carmelo? Sure they can trade Lopez, but that's just shuffling the deck chairs on the Hindenburg. And why is Woj so determined to keep stirring this Nets thing that has never made any sense?

Deadline day deals:

Knicks trade AR for 1st round pick

Knicks trade Curry, Gallo, Fields, 1st round pick for Melo

Knicks trade Turiaf, Azubuike for Varejao

New Rotation

Varejao/Mozgov
Amar'e/Chandler
Melo/Williams
Chandler/Walker
Felton/TD

Would that make everyone happy?

Donnie is doing just fine

Post#1638 » by alphad0gz » Wed Dec 22, 2010 2:11 am

You guys are panicking. Denver will not want him in the West where he can screw up their life royally. He will be in the East and I am of the belief that if he would agree to play in NJ it would already be done. Denver is trying to manufacture competition. That should be obvious by all the contradictory reports. At the end of the day, Denver will accept an offer just North of the rental offers OR Anthony will walk.
