The blue line in the figure below is the 25 - 54 year old group. The redline is the overall population. As the delta between the two lines increase, you end up with a worker shortage for things like healthcare, public services, etc.
older poor people are going to need to remain in the work force longer. there is no way around it. easier jobs for sure. but they will need to remain working if they can not afford to "retire."
