He's not a good rebounder, doesn't score inside the paint, and zero rim protection.

Grant is at his best when he's the 8th man.

He needs to lose weight and become a SF. He's just too short to be a front court player

100%

But I don't think he can do it.

I mean lose weight and become a SF.

I think you're oversimplifying it.

It's not so simple - you don't just wave a magic wand, lose some weight and now you can play the 3.

Just because you lose some weight, it doesn't necessarily mean you can now move like a 3 in terms of agility, changing directions, moving up and down the floor fast enough, short bursts, lateral quickness, etc.

You need more of that type of quickness and athleticism to play the 3 usually.

Then again, Hauser plays mostly the 3 and he's not super quick/athletic. But he's also 6'8" so he's 2" taller than Grant which is a bit different. You can get away with the lack of quickness/athleticism and lack of additional skills besides just shooting if you're taller.

But if you're only 6'6" and you're like 215 or 220 lbs. Well, that's Jaylen Brown's measurements. And JB is one of the most athletic players in the league. And his ability to create shots, and make tough shots off the bounce is multiple levels above Grant.

Grant just magically get to be way more athletic than he is..and it's probably not realistic to have the type of skillset that JB has.

His best chance is imo is to just try and develop into a guy who's as close as possible to prime PJ Tucker. Bring toughness, physicality, strength, shooting, defensive versatility. But prime PJ was definitely quicker than Grant, was a better defender and played with just this all out reckless abandon, crazy motor which Grant plays with at times but he doesn't play like that nearly as frequently as prime PJ Tucker..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Just because some random person on Twitter says it, doesn't mean it's true. He just had a bad shooting night (2/11). It happens but it makes him an easy target when they lose. There's already enough wild, nonsensical takes posted here when the Celtics lose, there's no need to bring up other team fans' wild, nonsensical takes when they lose too. I mean we had posters here that were calling for Hauser's head when he shot poorly on a like 15 shot sample in preseason. This is pretty much the same thing.

I don't think this guy is basing it off just 1 game. A couple weeks ago he was saying that the contract the Mavs gave Grant was the worst contract any team gave a player this past offseason.

Just because you disagree with the take, doesn't automatically make it nonsensical.

The fact is that Grant Williams was 5th in minutes in the regular season and the playoffs for a team that was a few minutes away of going up 3-1 in the Finals. If he can play such a large role for a team that came so close to winning the title, I'm pretty sure that he could play a much smaller role for a marginally better team that goes all the way.

The bar for an 8th man on a championship team is basically a guy that can stand in the corner for 15-20 minutes and knock down his open threes while switching competently across a couple positions on defense. I really don't see which part is outside Grant's skill set. For instance, do you think the Nuggets fail to win the title if he is in Jeff Green's spot ?

I'm not trying to say he's good or worth his contract but clearly he can be a part of a playoff rotation and not kill you if there's the right infrastructure around him. Which he had in Boston and he doesn't have in Dallas. But that's not really his fault.

I’m surprised the Garland one doesn’t happen more often given the amount of players who lead with the head to either get past players or draw fouls.

While currently leading the league in net rating, Sixers really benefitting from a soft early season schedule. They're 11-0 against sub-.500 teams. Have now played Pistons and Wizards 3x plus Raptors and Hawks 2x. Just 6-7 vs. .500-and-above teams.

Brunson just dropped a 50-burger on the Suns (in their home floor), who are now a loss away from being a .500 team.

50+ points, 9+ assists, 5+ steals in a game since 1985 --> Jordan, Rick Barry, and Brunson.

Philly's last 5 games have been 2 games against Washington, 2 games against Detroit and 1 game against Atlanta. Next up for Philly is Charlotte.

Life is good!

The KD presser discussing this is definitely one to watch. There's a LOT of veiled criticism in here going on. And I would feel bad for KD but 3 times, count em, 1, 2, 3, he had a chance to come here and join this team and be beloved and WIN again and he chose elsewhere. Bro, you **** up...and Lucky cursed you.

Miles Bridges was -56 in 31 minutes. That's crazy.

If KD keeps playing after he declines to role-player level, he could still wind up here. "Jayson Tatum's backup" would be the perfect role to ease into if he wants to keep playing after he's no longer a star. ... And by the time he hits that age, Tatum might be a star old enough to have his minutes shortened by an outstanding backup.
