Wait Simmons not entering in this draft or is he not attending it?

Sabonis Valentine Payton
Those are BALLERS!
Yep. I'd be willing to trade #9 for #15 and #19, then take Sabonis and Valentine. One or both of these players will probably turn out to be a star in the league.
Payton at #27 is not too crazy to happen.
I like Davis at #9, but there are 3-4 other PFs that aren't that far back of him, and at least 2 will still be there at #15.
If Masai knows for sure he isn't maxing DD (and I really hope this is the case), then I'd also consider trading Lowry for Murray at the draft. Odds are the Lakers would go for this and then Max DD a week later. Murray could then work on his game while splitting time at PG and SG for us backing up CoJo/Wright and Powell/Ross. He would get more time at SG though as Ross would also be backing up DC at SF. Bring back Biyombo. PF draft pick backs up 2Pat. If we manage to land Sabonis (or Chriss or Davis or Ellenson) AND Valentine, then Ross is probably trade fodder by February.
I just love the idea of JV working down low and getting more shots, with a bunch of young, great 3 point shooters on the outside. And above all, everyone being a great passer.

Masai should trade up to top 7. Pick whoever is left of Murray, Bender, Brown and Hield.

Re: Thank Nation! Pre-Lottery: Denver 9th, NY pick 7th (PART 4)
I feel like Davis checks a lot of boxes. Positional need, physical profile and athleticism, upside, ready to contribute defensively. Generally he has a bounce and look to his game that I think will translate well. In terms of what both MU and DC typically like he fits too.
I definitely like him over Ellenson and Poetl and Chriss. Skal I was intrigued by but see a lot of flags as well, plus it's gonna take longer for him to even contribute if he does.
Outside of Davis the only other big I'd consider at 9 is Sabonis. He's ready to contribute in a lot of ways. It will be up to our staff to work him out and judge specific parts of his game, specifically how well they project him to compete defensively in the NBA. Physically he's both pretty quick and strong and has a very high defensive IQ, but on specific issues like closeouts I could see reason for concern.
Other reason I like Davis is he's going to be a versatile defender who can play both 4 and 5, and can potentially be paired with different types of players.

His measurements(Sabonis) are that of someone like Tyler Hansborough which are just rumors at the moment but him skipping the combine doesn't really help. If true I want nothing to do with the guy. He's a great rebounder and passer for a big but I don't see his game translating on the offensive end.

Physically he looks like Bro but he's 2 inches taller and stronger, along with superior instincts and offensive skills.
His offense I'm not worried about at all actually. He has a hook shot that you can't block, great footwork, recognition and passing ability, and will probably develop a solid perimeter stroke. Not a dominating offensive player but a reliable guy you can count on I think.
Defensively he really knows how to play, he can keep you out of the paint, can jump out to hedge and get back well, and beats his guy to the space he wants to get in. But like I said there may be specific things to watch out for, like being able to contest and close out, and maybe he's a guy who needs more of a specific fit. At the same time it's hard to look and him and find a real hole in his game, outside of the fact he's not going to wow you athletically. Cerebrally he is ahead of the game.
At the same time, you can argue Davis has flashed some similar things Sabonis has flashed offensively, like a jump hook, and mid-range game. And of course physically he's looks much more like NBA caliber and you know his defensive ability is there.
I've liked Davis going back months now. While I am a Sabonis fan, Davis just seems to make the most sense for what we'd like out of this pick.
Davis' potential is excellent defender and solid offensive contributor, Sabonis' is more of a well rounded glue guy/team leader.

Athleticism? He looks like a Clydesdale running the Preakness. Other than that he also looks like a centre not a modern 4.

He'll never do that in a million years because it would likely cost a roster player or two

And why should he consider it? Giving up key players for ones that have to be developed down the line doesn't really make much sense unless they have Superstar talent. Outside of the top 2 everyone else is a crapshoot.

I think we need to be looking at a Terrence Ross replace at the wing... PF we can address in free agency we move his contract out.
What about a draft day trade
Raptors trade Terrence Ross + Patrick Paterson + #9 + #27
Atlanta Trades Paul Millsap + #21
Draft Pat McCaw
Lowry - Joseph
DeRozan - Powell - McCaw
Carrol - Bruno
Millsap - Jason Thompson
JV - Biyombo

Who are you kidding. If Masai was offered Jamal Murray for Ross, 9th and the LA pick, he would take that deal and run. He not only clears space to re-sign Biz but he gets a future PG to replace Lowry.

I wish. Atlanta would never go for that though, they would have to really want to blow it up, and even then I think we send Powell and the clips pick to get them to consider it.

Are we seeing the same guy? Davis can get up above the rim, run the floor well and get up very quick for multiple blocks and rebound attempts. Defensively he'll be able to guard both the 4 and 5 when he gets a little stronger, he's already good at getting out and defending PnR and on the perimeter.
I think maybe there's an illusion of him being slow because he's pretty smooth and takes long strides, he is an above average NBA athlete though. His wingspan is 7'2 but watching him he looks like he plays even bigger than that.

Sorry, I just don't think he's that good. Looks rough offensively and didn't take a lot of jumpers.
Chriss n Skal should be ahead of him in terms of PF imo

If I'm drafting PAB. I pick Davis. But I see him more as a 5 than a 4. Don't see how Davis and JV could play together tbh.
I'm on the trade up for Murray or draft Jalyn Brown tip though. We need a young wing prospect with potential to replace Derozan

Hey listen if this is the Skal we can look forward to a year or 2 from now then I'm all for taking him but his inconsistent play says otherwise.

Description makes Sabonis sound like Amir. I really like 9 for 15 and 19 withmSabonis in mind. Almost zero bust potential. Thing is if Poetl drops do we pass on a player like him at 9?
