I think Pace needs to be fired right after the last game of the season. We need a better GM, and we should let that guy decide Nagy's fate. My favorite candidates to succeed Pace:

1) Chris Shea of KC, currently Football Operations Counsel and Personnel Executive

2) Mike Borgonzi of KC, currently the Director of Football Operations (he's been rumored for our GM job before)

3) John-Eric Sullivan of The Packers, currently their co-Director of Player Personnel

Dalton looked good yesterday, although it was the Lions. The reports of him not being to throw long look like they were exaggerated. I feel better about our receiving corp, too. Mooney looks like a bona fide #1, and Bryd has potential with his speed. Then there's Goodwin, who is very fast. Kmet looks like a legit target. And that kick returner, Carter (?)- he's got big play potential. He looks super quick and like he can break some tackles. It was good to see them get him more involved in the passing game. And even Jimmy Graham had a catch or two.

Troy Aikman was saying this is the best O line the Bears have had since Nagy has been here. Yet they showed the stats, and they are 31''st overall, 32nd in pass protection, the Bears lead the league is sacks allowed. They did good yesterday, but again, it was the Lions.

The O Line has been an afterthought for Pace since he took over. Statistics can be used to make the argument for or against. But the eye test tells me the O Line is horse poop when it counts. They were a danger to Field's long term health, at least with the play calling of the inept Nagy.

Off-season Plan
HC: Jim Harbaugh
DC: Vic Fangio

Trade Foles to the Jets, saves 8m in cap. They won't have a vet at QB and they'll have a lot of cap. Might have to send them a pick or two but I'd only do 6th or 7th rounders.

Cuts:
Jeremiah Attaochu: save 2.3m
Angelo Blackson: save 2m
Germain Ifedi: save 1.5m
Cap after: 63m

Resign:
Hicks: 6m (if he's not willing to take that I let him walk. He's too injury prone)
Dalton: 2.5m
Nichols: 2.5m
Peters: 1.5m
O'Donnell:1.5m
Scales: 850k
Wilkinson: 850k
Bars: 850k
Ogletree: 1.2m
Mustiphar: 3m
Irving: 1m

FA Signings:
Jamison Crowder, WR: 1 year 6m
James Washington, WR: 3 years 9m
Jordan Akins, TE: 2 years 6m
David DeCastro: 1 year 2m
Calais Campbell: 1 year 2.5m
Dante Fowler Jr, OLB: 1 year 1.2m
J.C. Jackson, CB: 14m/year
Kareem Jackson, S: 1 year 3m

After these moves we'd have roughly 8m left in cap with 50 roster spots filled. That should be enough to fill out the offseason roster plus the draft.

Peters/whitehair/Mustaphar/DeCastro/Jenkins
Monty/Herbert/Cohen
Mooney/Crowder/Washington/Kmet/Akins
Fields/Dalton

Hicks/Goldman/Campbell(Nicols/Gibson/Tonga/Edwards)
Mack/Roquan/Trevathan/Quinn(Ogletree/Irving/Fowler)
Johnson/Jackson/Jackson/Jackson

Give me Harbaugh. That’s who I wanted when Pace hired Nagy.

less likely after today's game

OT, but major super spreader event in ann arbor right now. tens of thousands of mask-less students and others rushing the field in cold weather. goes to show that even intelligent college kids are pretty damn stupid

tempted to quip that it's worth it to see OSU lose, but that would be crass...

Agreed likelihood is very very low for Harbaugh now. He just beat his demon

I thinks it’s going to be McDaniels. I think he will take control of everything too. Pace will be out as well.

Kinda scared if that happens.

Want a HC hire not a coordinator. I know McD was a HC.

I don’t know where the name McDaniels has come from, but you would think that system doesn’t favor a Justin Fields type of quarterback. Although I don’t necessarily sell Fields short in a more controlled short passing based system once he gets going. Anyway, I am expecting any new hires to be all in on a system that favors Fields’ talent, which will be a mandate from George, right or wrong. The new coach should not be another coordinator, but only because the Bears and Pace (or whoever) has not shown any evidence they know how to choose the right ones. Lovie was damn good, but that was proven to be an isolated accident of good fortune.

Set me on fire if that happens. Dude wanted Matt Cassell over Jay Cutler, Jay was a jerk but had bigtime talent, Cassell was a nobody.

Back up the Brinks Truck for Captain Comeback, he was a super success in SF and butted heads with a doofus GM - sounds like Thibs/Gar to me.

I would take John Harbaugh to run the entire operation. Not so sure about staying in the past for Jim as coach, sometimes it feels like we get stuck like that in Chicago. Wouldn’t be mad at it though.

Get Ozzie Newsome out of retirement ftw. Since we are all putting our wish lists together for Santa.

Harbaugh has always been my #1. I think he’d be great for Fields. He was great with Kap.

Does he want to leave Michigan though? Especially right now? He just got a monkey off his back and he would be going into a rebuild here. Maybe he does I don’t know.

IMO a system similar to the Kubiak/Stefanski systems would be perfect for this team next year. All the pieces are there already aside from the offensive line. Just go all out on bringing in top talent to fix the OL (similar to what CLE did a couple years ago), and I think it's a quick turnaround.

Not sure how interested he is in the NFL but he can absolutely use the Bears to get more money from OSU.

I guess makes about 7 million or so. So he’s just about at the Bears limit already let alone an offer of a significant raise. Anyway…

For those who think no one will be interested in the Bear's openings because of how screwed up the org. has been, chew on this:

"According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the Bears’ future head coaching vacancy — and potential general manager job — are expected to be the most attractive jobs on the market.

With more than a month left in the regular season, the Bears job — either one of them — seems like it’ll be the best one on the market. That’s the overwhelming response I’ve gotten from sources around the league and coaches and personnel execs gear up for a new hiring/firing cycle."

I'd prefer McDaniels over Harbaugh. Harbaugh was very difficult to get along with when he was in SF, and was pretty much kicked out even though he was very successful. Even many of the players were glad to see him go.

McDaniels has a long proven track record as an offensive guru. I don't think he'd have trouble incorporating more plays that would utilize Fields abilities.
