Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
I agree coaching is a big issue but we need some defensive minded players. We still have a chance to make another trade (or add teams in) with Bobby/Jae/Malik/POR 2nd if need be. Idk if I'd love rooting for Smart but I'm sure I could talk myself into it.
Pj could help as a switchable defender/additional defensive coach, Plumlee gives us a big body to throw at guys like Embiid/Jokic/AD, Smart gets us out of the Cam Payne business and adds a legit switchable G defender and another playmaker (health and vibes being the possible issues here), Konchar (if they would even give him up in this type of trade) is just another cheap guy I kind of like as a buy low cheap option. If we couldnt get Konchar we could use that open spot for a buyout guy or another trade, I'm also ok with taking a real look at Ty Ty on the actual squad too and letting him fill that slot if open.
Bucks: Smart, Konchar, PJ, and Plumlee
Grizz: Brook, Payne, '24 2nd from LAC
LAC: Pat, Rolo

Bucks are just going to bring in two other players that aren't going to contribute to anything. Their scouting/development departments stink.
Have you seen some of the end of bench active rosters? Hell, have you seen ours? Add in these 2-ways are 2 steps below the last roster spot since guys can play in Europe and you are really scratching the bottom of the talent bucket. Not saying our talent department is good, but you seem to have high expectations. On the flip side, we have been pretty damn lucky getting rotational guys for vet min over the years (Brook, Wes, Jae, Javon, etc)

Think our young talent evaluators have really sucked. Where we put the blame, don't know. Horst is the starting point, but we don't know who else was involved.
To that end, on the vet contributors, the belief is most of those guys were Bud recruits. Again, whether accurate or not, don't know.
I do know that we got Brogdon in the 2nd round, but that was back in 2016, seven drafts ago. From that point, we've only really produced a decent contributor in Donte. But for the other picks, undrafted FA's, 2-ways, etc we've gotten nothing.
10-15 years ago, I'd have done a research project on what the other 29 teams have done compared to the Bucks. But I'd leave that for all the newer bloggers out there this time around.

If MarJon had developed into a defensive specialist that'd help us a lot right about now.

Not exactly rocket science as to why Horst's moves/acquisitions pre and post-Bud haven't looked like homeruns outside of obvious talent upgrades (Bledsoe, Dame). Ask any GM how difficult it is to nail these on-the-margins moves when you have a coaching staff that lacks any vision or coherent structure and is more just "throwing **** at the wall to see what sticks".
It becomes almost impossible to identify the player archetypes that fit the team with a volatile coaching situation. We never had that problem with Bud. You had faith that there was a set role and plan for every cheap player acquisition they brought in (Brook, Pat, Bobby, Donte, etc.).

I can't put all of this on the different coaches, unless they were the ones actively involved in these drafts and signings (and Kidd and Bud probably were). But it is frustrating that we haven't nailed a young top 8 playoff type contributor since 2016.

Impossible to know for sure but just look at Miami and how they've seamlessly integrated that rookie Jacquez kid into their rotation. He was such an obvious Spo fit (smart half-court dude, mid-range assassin, can play on or off ball equally well) and I can't imagine he didn't have input there. Same with Donte when Bud first got here. Horst made the pick but everything indicates he heavily consulted Bud and knew he was gonna be a guy they could use right away.
Griffin though? I have zero faith that he in any way provided insight into that pick (Andre) or even identified him as a player he'd want for his system. That seemed like Horst throwing AG a bone and then, like all of us, slowly coming to the realization that even in an ideal world with ideal personnel, the scheme sucks no matter who you're throwing out there.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
BUCKS GET: TYLER HERO/DUNCAN ROBINSON/CALEB MARTIN/JERAMY GRANT/THYBULLE
HEAT GET : DAMIAN LILLARD/ MALCOLM BROGDON/ BOBBY PORTIS/CAMERON PAYNE
BLAZERS GET : KHRIS MIDDLETON/ LOWRY/ 2 Miami's frpicks
Before i get mocked and ridiculed: A few things.
1) I know a trade like that can't happen. So, just for the fun of it.
2) This is not a trade i desire. This is a trade that Giannis himself desires (except for Khris). For me, it's obvious that Giannis DOES NOT want to give the ball to Dame. He prefers being pg like lebron, he likes to be more the picknroll ball handler than screener/finisher.
Giannis' wet dream is him with 4 catch n shoot players around him.
He doesn't want to share the ball. He doesn't want to defend much too because he likes his MVP numbers in offense and defense is tiring.
Lillard is not a good fit for him. At least, that's what he thinks. At least, that's what i think that he thinks.
Herro/Robinson can play without the ball in their hands. They are very good as catch n shoot players. They will have a tone of uncontested shots.
Thybulle is a great point of attack defender. Caleb Martin too, also he is a 3-d player. He was great in Heat's run last year.
And Grant is a very good two way player. Much better defender than Bobby. Also much better offensive player.
3) I believe that Lillard/Butler/ Bam are good enough to be even champions. With this trade, they are getting much better than us. But, at least, we are gonna watch a team playing with heart again. A team that likes being together and enjoying the game. It's obvious that right now Bucks players DO NOT enjoy basketball. Team's chemistry is s**t. Giannis already calls them out saying they have no pride. These new role players will play exactly like Giannis desires. And who knows, maybe we'll be good.
HERRO
ROBINSON
THYBULLE
GIANNIS
LOPEZ
Bench
AJJ
BEASLEY
MARTIN
BEAUCHAMP
JERAMI GRANT
4) I repeat : I don't want it, it's stupid giving Dame and Khris for these role players. But i bet that Giannis will enjoy this team and we won't watch the s**tshow we are watching right now. Us fans, we will enjoy it too.
I am sure that Giannis won't change his playstyle, he wants to turn Dame into Beasley, a catch and shoot player.
I am also sure that Dame doesn't want this. Team is already on collision course. It is inevitable i fear.
I really wish that i am saying BS and we crush them all being champions again.

Which is the most pressing need-a roster change or the coach?
The only significant personnel change since last season has been Lillard replacing Holiday. For those of you who see changing the roster as the biggest need, did that one change put the Bucks in the bottom tier of the league defensively? It's an important question to answer before you make a significant trade.

Giannis talked about player's playing with pride on defense. Yes that's on them but also coaching.
In contrast I haven't seen a whiff from Giannis about the front office needing to make a roster change.
Sure that'd be way more Lebron-like than the Giannis we've known to date -- but it's also unprecedented for him to be putting the coach on blast like he's been too.

We can't trade Pat because he bought some buildings in here.
we cant trade Beas because according to an interview (with Beas), no trades are necessary.
We won't trade Malik Beasley not because he's beaten all baselessly negatory 'fanalyis', not b/c he's exceeded any objective expectations, not because he's the one functional new piece--all true, Bucks won't trade Beasley because they wanted a reliable scorer and 3pt shooter at the 2 and went out and got one. Jrue Holiday and Jevon Carter won't agree to a return trip since that's what realGMfolk are trying to do here, so we're not gonna get a Defensive POA stopper as good or better--ppl want better--trading Malik straight up. At least, not if he's really as bad as the peanut gallery thinks

I agree with this.
The most important thing that Giannis said that is being missed is that we should be setting the defense based on what the strengths if the other team is.
You shouldn't play every team the same, but that is just what Bud and now Griffin are doing. Bud was obviously more successful defensively, but was still inflexible in his approach.
Nurse plays defense differently depending on the matchups. Remember the wall he used to build for Giannis?

Coach is most pressing but there is no reason we can't tweak the roster outside of the top 4 as well.

Stop messing with the roster to compensate for the worst coaching in the league. Unfortunately I don't think the coach is going anywhere until at least after the season. If I said why, I'd probably be banned so I'll leave it at that.
