The fact he's only been playing basketball since he was 14 is an aspect of the puzzle we can't lose sight of. It was one of the selling points for Embiid as well. The hope is that these types are years behind more polished players whove played ball longer, been to more clinics, and practiced more. But... that they will catch up and eventually surpass because of the things they have that can't be taught. That's always the hope anyway.

Kind of interesting that Giannis and Bruno have the same agent.

"Same agent" is a weird aspect of a player comparison, like a last resort when you can't think of anything else.

But this agent managed to get notoriety for Giannas leading up to the draft ... whereas Bruno was kept hidden because they had already made an arrangement to draft him.

People are excited because it's possibly this agent may be a good judge of unknown talent.. perhaps not but it makes a bit of sense.

Kevin Durant was WELL KNOWN the entire season he played in college, both Greek Freak & Bruno had little notoriety until after the NCAA season was done.

He should be able to learn basketball english in a month or so. The rest won't matter for his skill development. I hope the team gets him on a diet plan, english tutor, and maybe he can work with Hakeem alongside Val this summer. He has the fluidity and athleticism to use his moves very well. Masai is probably less sure of his potential than some of the posters around here who have thrown out some pretty grand projections for this kid. Let's keep in mind Bruno was his SECOND choice after Tyler Ennis.

Seemed more like 1A and 1B to me. They wanted both, and I think Masai was frustrated cause he thought it was surefire.

Actually weren't there reports 1A and 1B was Ennis and Gary Harris, with the hope of Bruno at 37? Then both Ennis and Harris were picked and they basically rolled the dice and took Bruno at 20 out of fear that he'd be gone by 37.

If that's the case, no wonder Masai looked pissed at the post-draft press conference lol.

After I finished watching the videos, oh my goodness he's not as raw as some might people think. I thought he literally doesn't know how to play lmaoo but man he got some moves. Last thing before I go out, some subtle things I noticed were; he made decisions quickly doesn't hold the ball too much, not forcing it letting his game come to him and I love that he was always on triple threat position everytime he got the ball at the top( there was one play during the clip where he did a "KD" swipe then drove the ball to the hoop). Not sure if he truly has first step though need to see it on Summer League. Can't wait!!

My thoughts exactly. I thought we were getting the Nathan Jawai of small forwards, someone who had great physical tools but looked like he started playing basketball yesterday. Bruno is certainly raw, but he looks raw in the way that he isn't ready for the NBA, not ready to play professional basketball. And players his age shouldn't be ready for the NBA, he's the equivalent to coming out of high school.

And agreed with the whole making decisions quickly. He doesn't look lost when he has the ball, which is what the ESPN analysts were gearing us towards thinking.

Build-wise and coming from a random scrub league, Bruno compares to Giannis. But Gianni's was a much better prospect. Had a good handle, more agile, better leaping ability, grab the D board and went coast to coast and finished. I don't expect Bruno's handle to be anywhere near as good as Gianni's. They were the same age when drafted.

You know...there was a time when guys were being drafted straight out of high school. I can recall a couple that did ok in their careers.

If it was me I would have been alllllll in or bust . I would have made that trade and drafted Bruno first but also drafted Inglis or Capila at 22 . If you are all in , might as well be all in .

Originally I thought that a 20th pick wouldn't be too much of a loss, given how at 20-30 range, most players would amount to little in the league, turns out I was wrong.

I flipped through the NBA draft from 2000 to 2010, and at a glance, in every draft, there are at least 3-5 players within the 20-30 range that turned out to be solid role players, rotation players on good teams, and there are more than a few all-stars in that range than I remembered. At a rough estimate, there is a 40-50% chance that a pick in that range will end up helping a team a lot.

I just hope this gamble turns out somewhat ok, else down the line in a few years, this would just be one more reminder, among many, of how many draft mistakes this franchise has made.
