I wonder if Management is asking Gary about Bagley. Maybe he can give them some insight from their college days.

minimum salaries count against the tax.
Not when they are traded

I don't follow. sorry. Right now we are basically right at the tax and therefore can't sign a 15th guy. Gordon plus Kenny Hustle's salary is basically even. So we'd still be in the same spot unless we throw in Svi or someone similar. Teams dump minimum guys on other teams all the time in trade to get under the tax. There will be multiple of those types of trades in the next day and a half. Happens every year.

The exception also accommodates teams’ acquisitions of minimum-salary players via trade, as players signed via the minimum salary exception don’t count as incoming salary for salary-matching purposes.

Need to send Houston Svi to make room for 15th spot under the tax.

What do you mean by ours being too good? Just protect the pick.
Eric Gordon would be really great off the bench and he can be a good defender in our system. Only one year guaranteed on his deal after this.
Dragic, Flynn, 2023 first round pick (lottery protected)
Houston saves around $16M next year, gets a young player in Flynn, and gets another first round pick in 2023 (they already have two firsts in 2022).
We keep this years first round pick to continue the re-build and anticipate being better next year such that the 2023 pick will be in the 20s.
