Cant truly be worried about spending since a few weeks ago he mentioned the cap possibly going way up.

The cap isn't going way up until 16-17. The NBA television contracts expire after 15-16. The Knicks spent $36M in luxury taxes for a team which stinks.

This would be the benefit of still moving Bargs now...get under the tax this year and reduce future penalties so we can go bonanza in 2015/2016.

My blog (http://24secondclock.wordpress.com/) is coming back. First article is going to be up within the next few days on Melo's return.

Just figured I would let those who want to read it a heads up. Spread the word!

And not sure if its been mentioned byt another good thing to come out of Anthony coming back is that well not have to suffer TKF showing himself (at least not in the open) again for at least another 4 years.

But most people value him much more highly than Bosh -- many people were coming up with every contortion and twist to figure out how Melo could replace Bosh in Miami and most of those figured that was what LeBron was holding out for -- and Bosh got $118M. Melo is making what, less than a million bucks more per year on average?

He got what the market demanded. Of course he came for money but not solely. Obviously. Dude forced his way to NYC in the first place and steered away from the Nets. Money is always a big factor of course. Not just for athletes.

He deserves some credit. If you don't like his game, say that. Not that he's greedy. You don't have to be greedy to turn down an offer that was $50 million less. Not a single person on Wall Street who would turn down $50 mil, and Melo would have been a big idiot to give up so much money for a very questionable Bulls roster.

Well said and i'm sure anyone that has any common sense on here agrees with you and the ones that don't are the ones missing the common sense part.

he took a little less, and with the cap goin up it makes it reasonable. im not going to sweat it. whats done is done, now its up to Phil to work some magic...

its just annoying reading people bitch and complain about everything like if you're a knick fan just support the damn team and hope we move in the right direction.

Exactly. People just want to complain and then complain some more about everything they can and not just root for the Knicks. Well said.

Marion is an ideal fit next to Melo. I'd love him for the MMLE. Can play the 3/4.. play good defense, rebound, hustle, plays with heart, and can hit the 3 ball.

Y'all think Marion is a legit option? I love the Matrix in all of it's forms: human basketball player and computer generated reality we all live in. I dunno what he's been paid lately. You think he might take our 3.3 mill? I really thought Miami would make a run at him.

His weird free throws always blow my mind. Also, when I think of Shawn Marion, I always think of the Phoenix Suns version when he had that really weird looking pencil thin chin strap. It looked awful on his weirdly shaped face/head.

That shot though I don't know how he makes anything but I like Marion wouldn't mind him on the team

Granger and McRoberts rip them out of the competition. Where else might he go? Dallas is probably out of the equation. Clippers would be a good fit, not sure where else he'd go. Not many suitors left.

I'd start Marion from day one at the 4 and buyout one of Amar'e/Bargnani.

Calderon - Prigioni - Larkin
Shumpert - Hardaway
Melo - Smith - Early
Marion - Bargnani
Dalembert - Aldrich

3 defenders surrounding Melo in the starting lineup. Plenty of spacing and ball movement. 2nd unit is loaded with scorers. I can dig it.

I haven't been following all the MeloDrama threads but has anyone done an analysis of what Melo's salary would look like if he took the max elsewhere compared to NY and how his after tax income would look? It's reasonable that he'd stand to earn more in places with no state income tax like Miami, Dallas, and Houston compared to NY if he got the max anywhere, right? I think it would kind of put a small hole in the "he's only in it for the money" argument. If this analysis has been done, can anyone point me in the right direction? I did find an article about it on Forbes, but I'm wondering if anyone else has looked into it.

I think Phil wants as much money as possible next year. I don't see any mle or more deals made for this year. If the male will be used it's going to be a one year deal.

Marion is probably like the Elton Brand of last year (I think last year). He will probably go to whoever offers him the most money. I could see him ending up in Atlanta. They like to throw a lot of money around at guys that otherwise wouldn't even look that way.

Yes, I do agree with this. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they go with the attitude of "well we already have Melo locked up, so lets roll out what we have and evaluate during the season. If a no brainer move comes up, take it. If not, we have much cap space for the summer."
