Petersen better be stock piling these picks for a massive splash one day.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
Maybe with the Mark trade we are setting up for a Zion trade tomorrow?
Zion doesn't really fit with Mark and he needs a floor spacing center. Who knows what this trade means.
Knecht/Miller definitely seems like something that fits around a player like Zion.

That kind of swing is probably the only thing that will salvage things here.
If this is a pure tank move, or just a vote of no confidence in Mark, I think we may as well just sell off Melo to the highest bidder, because we will waste the rest of his 2nd contract trying to fill all the holes in our roster.
I expect it takes us a minimum of 3 1st round picks used on centers to find one that even contributes 80% of what Mark gave us.
investigate Adam Silver

I'm trying to understand the plan, but this is literally the only thing that can make this trade make sense imo.
Or maybe Silver confirmed to us at the game vs Washington a few days ago that we won the Flagg sweepstakes.

So what type of move would work for Zion? I'm not against it. He's a great player when available(rarely).

Miles, NSJr, Salaun. Heat pick, Mavs pick?
Maybe not Mavs pick since that is looking pretty juicy now. I'd imagine another team can give a better bid, but this trade deadline is making me question everything
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
Yeah I imagine Zion is ours for the taking with both those valuable picks unless OKC randomly unloads their assets for him.
Issue is I don't think he's worth it considering our other injury concerns. Miller, Melo, and Zion would probably play 13 games together. Malingering Mates.

Trading Mark for lack of effort then immediately trading for Zion would be really funny.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
After trading Richards and Mark we are back to having no bigs, a tradition unlike any other in Charlotte. We also now have 16 players under contract since this was a 2-1.
LaMelo - Micic - KJ
Josh Green - Knecht- NSJ - Tre Mann - Curry - Wong
Miller - Martin - Okogie - Jeffries- Reddish
Miles - Tidjane - Grant
Moussa - Taj
Guys in bold are in last year of deal/unguaranteed for next year. Roster is terrible, small and has no balance at all.
We are likely to waive someone tomorrow if we don't make another trade before this one is final.
Also, we are likely to give Moussa a real contract - so that means waiving/trading two guys in the next week.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
The other roster that is a scrambled mess of talent and fringe is the Bulls.
We make good trade partners moving forward.
Seems Peterson is a social butterfly. He's worked with Dallas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, OKC in his dealings to date. He's blended buying and selling with trading. He sold Mark, making center our biggest question and focus for this thread.
Any targets?

Salary kind of limits other roster spots like upgrade over Green.
What about Day'Ron Sharpe? He's a restricted free agent.

Seems like if you’re trading Mark Williams you might as well trade Melo and strip this rebuild back down to the studs. It makes no sense to have a part time 6th year all star level player playing with scrubs. He’s going to rightfully ask out soon so just rip the bandaid off and do it

you don't build around anyone, you just keep taking shots at guys until you find someone worthy. just doesn't make any sense to me to spend the next few years trying to get pieces just to maybe get like a 26-27 year old LaMelo to the playoffs for the first time and then the actual hard grind of taking the next step from there. Thats if we don't whiff in the draft. Cause his value is only going to go down as he gets older, has fewer years left on his contract, racks up more injuries, and continues build his reputation as a losing chucker. We have no business holding him hostage here to play another full contract of meaningless basketball games just to sell jerseys.
Can't even expect Miller to take a step next season as he rehabs from his wrist for however long. It will probably take him all of next season to get back to where he is right now

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
I really can't today, love that people are in here speculating we are going to actually get a winning player like Zion, Claxton or whoever else we think Peterson is going to get...
Can't wait for Hornets to trade Micic for Zeke Nnaji today... because yay 2nd round picks.
Get ready for the follow up deal Cody Martin for Pat Connaughton and 2nd round picks. Yay picks.
Maybe if we are real lucky we can give up our own 2nd this year to get Nurkic and Cavs 1st this year. Best of both worlds for Peterson right there, he can add it to his list of 1sts and we can get a terrible contract along the way.
I just have zero faith that Peterson is moving any of these picks for anything worth a damn. Who needs Mark Williams when you can have Zeke Nnaji and a 2nd rounder in 2037? am I right?
