So it's not true that Melo wasn't happy with this signing. They have a history of playing well together. Synergy, teamwork, chemistry - we need it. I haven't seen it on our team in years.
I expect Afflalo to be the best sidekick Melo has had since Billups.
If the Knicks are in playoff contention prior to the Allstar break and Afflalo is putting up 17 ppg on 45% FG's and 37% 3PT FG's (his numbers while in Orlando), he may warrant an allstar selection.
It should feel refreshing for Melo to kick it out to someone who can actually hit their shots consistently.
His catch and shoot numbers are extremely promising. His numbers when he played with Melo (efficiency mainly) are promising as hell too. Then you look at his character and his constant comments about how much he's wanted to be here and wanted to play with Melo again, and that's great too. I think his fall off has been seriously overstated because people overlook the situations he was being thrown into also, but that's a debatable one. Either way, I really think this guy could thrive for us and I think he's gonna be a pleasant surprise for many.
