Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
Groshans has hit for zero power the past two seasons. He's nowhere near a Top 100 prospect. The Jays are good at evaluating their own prospects, and this looks no different than squeezing out the last bit of value out of a failing prospect like they did with Martin. A guy like Addison Barger has become considerably more interesting than Groshans, which is why he was dealt.
Bass has actually been one of the better relievers in baseball this year. He's gotten even better as the season has progressed and as he has thrown his slider considerably more and more often.
Pop has control and lots of interesting qualities that may be untapped.

Also, helps clear up one Rule 5 dilemma for the fall. Groshans, Barger and Orelvis all would have to be added to protect them. Otto Lopez and Leo Jimenez already on the 40 man roster. Five minor league infielders on the 40 man roster might be a bit much (as are four catchers).
As for low leverage bullpen help, they will have some flexibility at BUF and NH with Adrian Hernandez resumiing throwing, Pearson not too far away, and Yosfer Zueleta possibly moving up to BUF soon.
2019 will never be forgotten because FLAGS FLY FOREVER

Who in the blue hell is Thomas Hall lol.
I think this makes some sense. Can't see the asking price being astronomical, either. Maybe they'll toss in Trout for a PTBNL too.

From a bit earlier but hard to imagine that Bass and Pop would change that sentiment.
I don't know who in that locker room or their agent would be spewing this, though.

Wonder what prospect we would be giving up? Martinez? Lopez?

I really don't care about the HuGe BoOsT aspect of trading for vibes. It rarely works that way.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
how long will it take for the jays to accumulate the minor league pitching depth that is good enough to compete? this current hitting lineup will be getting too expensive to keep together in what.... 2 years?

Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
Price on players must have been too high, which is why we didn't do anything more significant. Bass & Pop are decent adds for the pen, and Mitchell White might be able to step into the 5th spot in the rotation, his only concern is walk rate.
Edit: just noticed we got Merryfield too, that's a nice get.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
Should also mention: Mitch White has better peripherals this year than Syndergaard. He got buried because the Dodgers have 25 starters, but that's a nice depth pickup.
Edit: I really don't like sending Frasso back, though.
