THAT is what every one is over looking....sorry but the "stars" don't want Linsanity. The one guy who did was traded with him.

If true, it would kind of be like the Tebow situation. People not liking Lin getting all the attention and then coming out and saying so after the fact. That's exactly what happened with Tebow.

Felton =/= Peyton Manning though so I don't understand where all this ridiculous hate on Lin is coming from

Folks have to keep this simple.

Does matching Lin make us a better, deeper basketball team? Yes

Does matching Lin make sound financial sense? Probably not

What does Dolan care about more, winning or $$$? Figure that out and you'll get your answer.

And I'd like to see Melo and the Knicks get out of the first round. Wasn't our whole schtick last season that we would've put up a better fight if we had Lin and Shump healthy? Do you really think we're winning a championship with Felton/JR as our front court?

The point is the fans do "pay the luxury tax." One way or the other. Just like prices going up since Amare and Melo came, the renovation, etc. Same thing here.

You're avoiding the question. As a guy who's followed and been a fan of Melo for years, I want to see him finally win that chip and prove the **** haters wrong. I'm almost certain that this can't be done with Felton/JR as our back court, especially when Chandler/Amare are aging and Camby/Kidd are two of the oldest players in the league and, pathetically, our two primary players off the bench.

Melo needs help. Lebron needed it, and Kobe's needed it too. At this point, our franchise's only realistic shot at a championship is if Lin develops into the All-Star guard we've seen plenty of glimpses of last season. I think you know this to be true too.

Not a move we recover from -- either for the roster or for the fans. It'd be the end.

I've been a fan since '83 but even I could go no further.

come on now, that's an overreaction. lin's got potential, but it's not like he's cp3 or dwill. it would suck having fatty felton back, but the roster's still solid aside from that with a bunch of really tough, tenacious players; i could see an ecf run. plus, in three years, we could start from scratch.

Given the point the team is at- so close to being a contender yet no more flexibility to get better, it would look really bad to let a player walk, and then for him to go on and continue to improve.

Plus, there are doubts about the team's bball IQ and Melo commitment to a team-oriented offense. If Lin is gone is validates everything that TKF and others have said about the rift between Woodson/Melo and Lin.

When people start blaming Woody/Melo is where I get irritated, cause that is straight bullsh*t...

Management is in win now mode, meaning they want vets and don't want to overpay for a young project, they would have traded Shump, they didn't overpay Fields and they're not overpaying Lin, simple as that.

Lin makes us better

Lin makes us richer, even with luxury tax

Lin makes us more popular worldwide

Lin keeps the 3 year plan intact where we have a shot at a title

Still doesn't change the fact that Lin got all the attention. I'm not hating on Lin. Just trying to view it from a star's perspective. IF I was an NBA all-star, I'd be slightly annoyed this guy from the D-league from out of nowhere was suddenly getting all of the attention. So I wouldn't blame Melo or Stoudemire if this was the case. That said, to be clear, I absolutely love Lin and want the Knicks to keep him. And this is just speculation anyways. Means little if anything.

Our defense wasn't our problem last year. We had no offensive cohesion and that's what ultimately killed us. A new mediocre at best PG who needs to learn the chemistry of this team will help this how?

Our defense was good but not great. We still have holes.

Our defense was very good once Woody took over. Once of the better teams in the league and we added Camby and Kidd to help there. Our bigger hole was on offensive cohesion. Anyone who can't recognize that didn't watch many Knicks games down the stretch and against the Heat in the playoffs.

Felton as a starting PG severely downgrades our chances of winning

KG, FWIW Isola believes in the end they will match. It's Berman that says a Knick source "insists" they will not.

How does matching Lin not make financial sense when he makes tons of money due to the fact that he is Asian? There is a reason why the Rockets want this guy so bad and it is because they had the same experience with Yao.

30 games?

Lin was the first player since like...the 99 team that made me cheer like a girl during games. I'm usually calm or pissed off and the dude is something else. He has the it factor. I don't want to lose that over **** Felton.

You've got to think deeper man, it's not about the fans, or even the good the guy could be in the future (I never bought the Star hype for him, but it's ok) it's about winning now, and now, we're fully committed to Anthony and Stoudemire, maybe you like it or not, but it is what it is, and in my opinion getting vets that can defend and make this team a hard one to beat is one of the greatest movement you can make to be a championship level team.

We also need balance in offense between Melo, Amare and everyone, and sadly, Lin is too ball dominant for a PG, he can't play off the ball, he slow the attack, and makes some of our better players look really bad out there.

With Lin right now the only option is give him the ball and let him be the MAN, and he couldn't be the man on the Knicks with Melo and Amare, maybe he can in Houston, and he grow up a little bit, but now, we need a veteran guy that can play more games than that one, of being the star, and that's why Lin should be the odd-man out.

Not the money, the taxes, the CBA, he just doesn't fit well, and he isn't well enough to take the risk.
