I'm a KCP fan... im just not a KCP on a near max/max deal fan.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is where I'm at with KCP.

We can now sign KCP for 15m per year. Welcome to Brooklyn.

watch the wizards not match now and we get stuck with porter on a max while KCP signes for 10M less per year somewhere.

he expires. im sure that played into it

You may be correct. Probably didn't want to sign him long term next season. What would be their cap situation next season? Could they be in the running for another max after signing IT?

after singing Hayward they are over the cap. they are basically limited to just resinging their own guys next year... and even then there are tax implications.

thomas/heyward/horford alone would put them close to the cap

Well they got Morris in return, he's a bargain and fills a major need for Boston while opening up the necessary cap to sign Hayward outright.

This guarantees Detroit won't match KCP even if they don't renounce him, they can't match anything above around $13 mill in starting salary without shipping out Ish or a bad contract.

4 for like 64 could easily get it done if he's restricted, he gets renounced I bet he's like 4/50 and then I can get behind it.

Rich Paul (KCP's agent) is not taking 4/50 after THJ got 4/71 with trade kickers and player options.

Most likely scenario would be a 1+1 IMO, if the market has dried out for him. I'd guess with THJ's salary, the least he'd take is 80M/4

4/70 to 4/75 for KCP is a win for us and a solid deal. anything less is a steal

THJ had leverage. KCP doesn't. Big difference.

Only reason KCP was going to get a mega deal was to stop Detroit from matching. That's not an issue anymore.

KCP is a good 2 way player. THJ isnt. he is worth more.

cant see KCP getting less then THJ. if he does, marks for GM of the year

Exactly. It's a straightforward contract compared to the wrinkles it takes to pry him out under restricted free agency.

I hope Paul waits until we can negotiate a full salary within a week.

they would be dumb not to wait for the nets since we can offer him alot more then anyone else. you dont take the highest roller out of the bidding process.

Exactly... KCP is a WAY better overall player.

Again, if he only has BKN bidding on him and they lowball (which would be a slap in the face after offering Porter 106M), I'd guess that he looks for a very short term deal to hit free agency next year.

that pick is going to be a late late 1st with PG there anyway. Not sure it matters whether they had it or not.

Man this just got interesting. While adding two talented young guys like KCP and Otto would be added boost to this team, I do wonder how the minutes play out. I'd still kick the tires just in case Was actually decides to match our offer to Porter though.
