Australian Bush fires are completely out of control, my bro just got evacuated from his camping site in NSW seeking refuge in Merimbula. With the thick smoke blocking the Sun he said it's like night time in the middle of the day.

He's spending New Years with his family trapped against the coast in an apocalyptic scenario, waiting and praying for the fires to calm down.

I'll chime in soon, just drinkin' at home and listenin' to tunes on NYE (and working out which fire is going to burn my house down- so many to choose from!).

I went out to Utah and Arizona in September and hiked the Narrows at Zion with my 71 year old father (and sister and brother in law). He made it about 3/4th of a mile up the river before I had to tell him to stop because he was getting a bit tired.

It was an incredible experience and a day I'll remember the rest of my life.

I took a pay cut for a job that I love and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. Only downside is I’m never near a computer and can’t use my phone so there’s almost no time to talk with you idiots (only 100 posts in over a month!)

I always enjoy these posts, I like hearing what others have experienced during the year.

I've had an incredible 2019 so I can't pick one. I got married to the love of my life, my sister got married to a guy I really like, I was blessed with a niece and a nephew with 2 more nephews coming in 2020. I got promoted at work with multiple raises and have rekindled past relationships with people I lost touch with (a few thanks to World of Warcraft if you can believe it), and this might sound negative, but I've cut ties with a few people that were bringing me down. Traveled a bunch, did a lot of self-improvement health-wise and things are looking up. 2019 will be hard to beat but I think 2020 can do it 8-)

I'm sorry to hear that- I hope they're able to get out safely today and aren't too traumatised by the experience.

My happiest moment was going to be my successful back surgery that eliminated constant pain but Twirly's new job knocked that down to #2.

Nobody ever asks about my back pain for constantly carrying this board to greatness. Or Wisconsin's back pain for having to carry the shithole that is the UP.

My bro, made a run for it early this morning and is now in Canberra. He's leaving for Melbourne shortly as temps are expected to climb on Friday. He said he feels like he's smoked a billion ciggies...

Any IT guys here?

My wife is moving her home office into an area of our basement, where the WiFi is kind of hit or miss. I need to extend the range a bit. Nothing crazy, about 20ft or so. Any suggestions?

Otherwise, if speed isn't really an issue, one of those cheap wifi extenders could do the job.

I purchased a powerline adapter in the past and it worked well for my home office that was on the complete other end of the house and up a floor.

You're to this board what Greg Jennings was to the Packers
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

The images (animals, people, etc.) from the fires in Australia are completely heartbreaking. I feel bad but I can’t look or read about it without getting depressed.

Madison folks who love good Thai/Laotian food - check out Hot 'n Spicy in Monona. It's inside a Vietnamese grocery store, in a small corner in the back. The food is outstanding and very reasonably priced.
