I'm worried for Steph, Klay, Poole and Draymond's health. Every good team we've faced since December has had one or more key players missing games due to injury. The way things have gone one or more of the above will get injured before our series.

You don't think of the Celtics as the premier team of the last 15 years and w/ only 1 title for good reason. Need to start stacking those O'Briens

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
Haven't had the time to compile games w/ Timelord vs. games wo/ Timelord. My sense is when he's in we win, when out we lose. In a bad way.
I don't know what I'm watching here except some piss poor basketball. Mostly. THere're some good patches, but it's topsy turvy. There should be good execution with some bad lapses. This is bad ball with some good play interspersed. Good defenses doesn't understand turnovers and uncontested air balls.
Regarding Tatum being a gloryfied streak shooter I can run a list that few would know about, others that most have. But let me describe a streak shooter. He's someone that comes into the game, most times not a starter but can be, and is hot. Makes incredible shots. Can't miss. Can't be stopped. BUT......when their shot isn't going in they disappear. We've certainly seen that with Tatum, a lot. But perhaps I'm selling him short because a true streak shooter most times is just a shooter and doesn't do much else. Tatum can defend a bit.
But I know the difference between great defense and just bad ball. I'm watching a whole lot of just plain flat out bad ball with this squad.
But now quick before the fact. Anybody feel confident and secure that the Celts will win game 6? Speak up now not later. I'm certainly not.
And I've figured out how I feel about these Celts. I'm cautious, flattened, guarded. I won't let this squad get my too high or too low. Anything else is driving yourself crazy because they're inconsistent as hell.

A streak shooter is someone whose shots go in when they do and miss when they miss. Aka every living human in the world. It's a meaningless term used by people when they feel like they should say something negative but can't come up with original content.

No, "streak shooter" is a thing. I've watched plenty. We've got a glorified one ourselves. And notice no one chimed in with the utmost confidence and comfort for a Celts win tomorrow. That's good because it'd be foolish with what we've witnessed this playoff run from this team. But at this point they better. There's a whole whole lotta people that's got a Warriors/Celtics Finals already geared up and ready to go. The Heat just might have something to say about that. Great thing about this aggressive playoff schedule is that we never have long to wait and see.

Garbage take on Tatum. Pure garbage. Will Celtics win game 6? Probably but why would I be secure? They have played the toughest 3 teams of anybody in playoffs so calling them inconsistent is also rubbish. Miami is a great team and the Celtics will have to play hard and execute at highest level to win game 6. This is the conference finals….nothing is secure….not even the Warriors with a 23 pt lead at home.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

LOL @ The Warriors (and Heat) full strength rating being less than their current rating.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
Hate to be the kind of guy to say I told youse so, especially when my Celts come out on the losing end, but I told youse so I **** told youse so.
Oddly enough though I understood game 6. Up to a point. The Celts had it and let it go. They dug a little, the Heat dug much much deeper and came out on top.
I'll say it again, there's no goddamn **** reason this team should play like 1st or 2nd year rookies ffs. They've been here before. They shouldn't be this **** stupid. Really they shouldn't. It's beyond explaining.
And our coach let us down. They said Timelord was ready to check in when Horford made his first 3ptr. Ime pulled him back. Horford didn't score again and Timelord stayed out. The best and mostly ONLY time the Celts can summon the magic is with Timelord in there. Short of the magic he does things that help the team win. Why he was not in there is beyhond baffling. But rookie mistakes from a rookie coach is easier than rookie mistakes from veteran players. I have no confidence in this Celtics squad whatsoever. Lot of people should feel stupid because they look stupid because they had Celts wining and had the Finals all lined up with GS v BOS. Yeah, let at them now. They were fools and I said it before hand. You simply do not know what you are going to get with this squad and thats a crying shame.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
OK before the game starts I'll say I have real fears with this squad. They have some fairly deep and fundamental flaws. One among others seems to be a lack of a killer instinct. We've seen this all regular season and some of the playoffs. Not being able to deliver the kill. TO close out. This team isn't "young" anymore and should not be making the mistakes I see them making. With the possible exception of the coach making rookie mistakes.
Which ties into the bright spot. The key to this game is the same key we had when game 6 was tied with minutes left. Timelord. Period. Not sure what Udoka was thinking, except for him over reacting to 3 pointers. But Timelord can throw a monkey wrench into most of what the Heat plan and want to do. A wildcard. Something they have no real answer for. This is a break glass in emergency moment and everyone has to dig deep and play through. Timelord..Timelord....Timelord. He is our key to this win.
GO celts Go Celts Go Celts GO!!!!

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
Celts pulled it off by coming out like gangbusters from the opening tip. Never gave up the lead they got. The hero shot by Butler missed that would've given them their first lead with something like a minute and a half left. Thanks goodness it missed. But I had stopped breathing for real.
Did it with Timelord, but a pretty much ineffective Timelord. He's noticeably hurting. I paid special attention to him and focused on watching him for a lot of the time he was in and he's noticeably limping up and down court. Too bad because he's a special player but I really don't see him in our future.
On to the Finals. I'll have to see a couple games first to see how we match up. My general sense is that GS won't exactly know how to handle this defense and physicality. But we'll have to wait and see. My other general sense is that it has the makings of a classic series. But again we'll just have to wait and see.

OKC Thunder 2011-12 Playoff 8-Man Rotation Years of Experience: 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 15
Boston Celtics 2021-22 Playoff 8-Man Rotation Years of Experience: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 7, 14
Of course, Thunder had their 22- and 23-yos leading in minutes. Not the case with Smart and Horford among our minutes leaders.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
Very exciting time
I was at the celtics vs brooklyn game 4 win, right behind the hoop, behind wyc and company, jason terry even showed up, within 4 ft of celtics players when going into the locker room , a celtics fam who sat next to me even got jayson tatums game shorts. From one of the trainers.
Funny thing about the heat, i know Chris brickley, i work across the street from where his court is, ive seen jaylen brown in there in 2019, Jimmy butler last summer . Brickley was training and flying everywhere with Jimmy this postseason.

Lowry is a good starting NBA basketball PG in his prime based upon his actual basketball abilities and hustle/competitiveness.
Lowry + his tactics in this modern age made him a good HOF caliber player in his prime.
I forget what Celtics player it was but someone didn't fall for the trap Lowry likes to set and Lowry untouched just fell to the ground.
As someone else said, he makes Marcus Smart flopping look like an amateur.

Some Random Throwaway Postseason Team Stats:
• ECF Game 7 was the Celtics' 100th game of the season (RS + PS). They'd play somewhere between 104 and 107 this season. That's the most number of games they'd play since 2010 (106). The 2008 Celtics played 108 games.
• The Cs won four games in the first 3 rounds where they were trailing double-digits.
• They won four wire-to-wire games. Had at least one in each of the rounds including the ECF clincher.
• They led by double-digits at some point of 14 of the 18 games they've played so far.

Had the highest net rating in the playoffs as well, while facing some stiff competition.
