Need to stay the course and add on the margins. Bjelica and someone else capable. Get the 2 seed and beat the Nets in the conference finals. Our guys will stomp that team full of cowards.

That is sort of a convenient narrative for some but my point was you can't really pick a profile of a player who finally figures it out. Wood and Grant entered our team unable to shoot a lick relying almost solely on their athleticism and put the work in and developed into pretty good players.

Sauce entered the league supposedly a great shooter and never figured it out. Lonzo had the worst looking shot you've ever seen and seems to be coming into his own. Fultz entered the league with Harden comparisons and even before the injury still can't shoot 3's.

I mean one thing that Grant and Wood do is put the nail in the coffin with the idea that Brett Brown was some sort of great teacher. You look at Simmons development. You look at the fact both Grant and Wood developed AFTER they left the Sixers and you look at Fultz who maybe figures it out but seemed to be stuck in a rut while he was here and despite his continued struggles seems to be in a better spot since he left.

Was it mental health? Lack of talent? Brett Brown being an absolute trash of a coach? Who knows.

Well, there are anomalies and human factors that matter with prospects. Jerami Grant becoming an efficient volume three point shooter is 100% not expected when he was at Syracuse. Khris Middleton being a multi NBA all star was not expected when he was at Texas A&M. Some guys are just able to figure out and adjust to the current NBA game (which demands three point shooting fro bigs). Additionally, it's hard for us, and probably front offices too, to identify if every prospect is mentally fit to build on their game in the NBA and carve out a role.

Yeah so much of it comes down to work ethic, the ability and willingness to learn, and getting them in an environment that clicks.

There’s also a difference between generally scouting prospects and actually drafting/signing them. You can scout 20 prospects and have 18 of them accurately projected and you’re doing a great job. But if a team does that but the 2 they had wrong are the 2 they actually drafted they failed.

He would be an interesting target imho, expecially if we decide to part away with D.Green for a perimeter creator.

Wait, really? I find this to be more perplexing than buying out Kyle Lowry. Otto Porter is 27 years olds and one of the more elite role players in the league when he's not injured.

What if Porter and Lowry are both bought out and the Sixers get them both??

What possible reason would Toronto have to buy out Lowry?

Not sure why the bulls want to move on from him, but he’s probably pretty difficult to trade. Similar to Kanter a few years ago or Marvin Williams last year, it’s tough to find a team that wants to put together enough matching salary for a role player being paid like he is. Plus he’s completely unreliable from a health standpoint.

He’s also just not the same level of defensive player that he used to be from what I’ve seen. People should look at him more as a Scott replacement than someone you can count on to play a big role.

OPJ would be a good addition, definitely playoff top-8 rotation material. He + a creator for Danny Green would give me more optimism for advancing far in the playoffs.

Bulls want to move on, because he's always injured. He'll continue to be. We should not trade anything of value for him, because it'll bite us in the ass later, when he won't be able to play in crucial games. As a buyout sure I guess, but I'm extremely wary of players who are constantly injured. You can't ever rely on them.

If these rumored buyouts occur and we dont get anyone, that'll really, really suck. Obvious, but worth stating.

Yeah, the flip side is OPJ goes to a rival or an LA team and they just got significantly better...

God I'm gonna be so disappointed when OPJ and Kyle aren't in Philly.

OPJ is useless. He has played 86 games in the last three seasons. 56 games in 2018, 14 games in 2019, and 16 games this season. The reason he is available on a buyout is because he's never available to play. He is unbelievably injury prone. Like getting to the Kevin Love level. As others have said, the best ability is availability, and this guy isn't available. If he's a buyout and we can get him, without sacrificing other players, and a chance and more available buy out candidates then sure. But I don't understand the infatuation with a perennially injured player.
