We aren’t a deep team of former lottery picks/first round picks anymore we have like 3 guys from the G league in the rotation. If a superstar which is what we need to win a title becomes available (and not a super depressed asset like Kawhi), the NBA landscape has changed so much that means multiple first rounders and then OG and other core pieces going the other way. Then you’re basically a super shallow team hoping to fill out the roster with free agents or buyout players that don’t willingly come here. This is why a very good lottery pick this season is so attractive, gives you so much flexibility short and long term and builds up your asset base. We are basically like those MLB teams that go all in and sell the farm, then are back in the basement. Depressing it to win a play in game for nothing more than ego purposes (we beat the Bucks and Sixers in the dog days of the season, we can give em a scare!) is Bryan Colangelo thinking.

You're overestimating how hard it is to acquire a superstar. Look at how awful Houston's return was for Harden. They got no young prospects and a bunch of picks that will most likely all be in the later part of the 1st round. People talk about how bad the Spurs return was for Kawhi but Houston will be lucky to even get a player like Demar with all those late 1st round picks. It was a horrendous deal for Houston.

And where is the idea that we are going for the play in game coming from? We have been sitting Kyle, FVV, Pascal and today we are sitting OG. Last night we started Flynn, GTJ, Bembry, Boucher and OG. And the Cavs still couldn't beat them.

Almost a decade worth of pick control from BK is not an awful deal at all, and then you got the lottery pick from the Cavs in 2022. In what world is that a terrible return for a star player walking in 1.5 years?

They didn't get the Cav's 1st round pick. They got the Bucks 1st round pick which is going to be another late 1st rounder. They have three of Brooklyn's 1sts and 4 pick swaps which end in 2027.

They didn't get one single young promising prospect in the deal for one of the most talented offensive players ever and their 1st round picks they got are all likely going to be very late in the 1st round. That's a pretty awful deal.

They’re still getting multiple first round picks for the next decade for a player walking in the next calendar year . You’re saying that’s something Masai would do? That’s a pretty steep price for a star. And not all prices are equal. Teams like Brooklyn can afford to do that because they are a FA destination, we cant.

Well it's not for the next decade. It's for the next 6 years. Masai has already traded two FRP's so I don't think he'd hesitate if the team was in position to trade for a superstar which it's currently not in. There isn't much value in late 1st rounders which is why you see so many teams trading them.

HOU got robbed in the Harden deal, but I wouldn't look to it as a measure of superstar value. Their owner refused to help Morey so Simmons was rejected.

BKN 22, 24, MIL 22 are all gonna be super late firsts. The only pick that has some chance of being valuable is BKN 2026. Rest are pick swaps that won't convey.

OKC for example got SGA + multiple late firsts for Paul George, more than BKN got

Kawhi trade was definitely an anomaly though. A superstar talent who was injury prone and diagnosed with a degenerative condition that was extremely vocal about demanding to be in LA, and the last time he had played he looked awful before being shut down for the rest of the season.

And Popovic allegedly refused to send him to LAL unless it was a ransom

So it's definitely not a replicable strategy IMO

Damn, Cavs fought hard and had the lead with a few minutes left in the 4th but gave it up and lost in the last couple minutes. Zion was too much. No Garland, no Sexton, no Allen, no Nance but played it close.

I guess the Pelicans winning isn't that bad.

Hilarious that so many people are still looking down in the standings hoping really bad teams can pass the Raps, when the Bulls are losing to the last place team in the league.

Boys we needed that. Let's call it even after that Wizards game debacle.

It’s almost like Vucevic doesn’t contribute to winning basketball or something

Still need to sneak a loss to Orlando or OKC to Wash that away.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we have a Scary Gary - who's not afraid of the spotlight in close games. We just need to pair him/OG with top end talent.

That loss to them really might be the deciding factor between us making the playin or not

Yeah facts. Hopefully the cavs and wizards continue to sneak in wins before we play them. Those games are gonna be huge.

Bulls next four games consist of two vs the grizzlies, one vs cleveland and one vs the magic. Hopefully they win most of those.

I'm shocked, shocked at this assertion. Look at all his points (except against the Raptors).

Most of them are playing in their rough parts of their schedule. Be grateful that we're still losing somewhat consistently in supposedly the cake walk part of our schedule. Things are gonna flip late April. We're going on a brutal westcoast trip in May as well.
