Re: Last Train to Celticsville Trade Thread
Point forward, no way, well at least not without another massive leap.
I do like that Ime has been using JB to bring the ball up with pace at times, but if nothing is there in transition, pass it off and run a play.
The problem with this currently is we are a REALLY slow team. It turns into a bunch of 1 on 3s. Good idea, wrong supporting cast.

Grant's not worth $27 million per year. Stay away from this guy.
Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report:
Sources say Grant expects to sign a lucrative extension in the ballpark of four years, $112 million this offseason.

I don't get the wing thing. Why is this the focus over a shooting 4 or a distributing 1?

I think they want a wing and a distributing 1. My best…educated guess at the wing thing is that Brad wants Tatum back at the 4.

*28 million... He's not worth that money, but he could end up being a stepping stone to our 3rd star.
I think he excels in that 3rd banana role here and our defense would be amazing. He's probably not worth that money, but he'll look pretty damn good. Our core is too young/good for our Nets style pick packages to be overly valuable to teams. So if we can get a guy like Grant, extend him, have him look great next to the Jays and Rob, we could then realistically try and package him plus remaining picks/players down the line for a better option.
If we could get rid of Horford going the other way I'd give up 2 firsts for him.
Horford/Juancho/ 2 firsts for Grant/ Olynyk with Grant agreeing to an extension between $25-28m. I'd do that.

So:
PG we don't have
JB
Wing we don't have
JT
Rob
I can get with that. But one of the two unknowns probably needs to be a star. If not in-season then this summer.
I would love to see Tatum with a post-up game too.

I don’t really think he looks any different as an initiator, tbh. Even in January, he’s still basically a 1/1 assist to turnover guy.
That said, I don’t care. I don’t want him doing anything besides the most simple looks for other guys. He’s an elite play finisher, use it more. We don’t need him to be an initiator, the less he does it, the better the offense looks.
Would love to see Jaylen in the Point Forward role and start Pritchard at PG but use him more as a two guard for floor spacing.
I want to see Jaylen handling the ball less, not more. Dude has more turnovers than assists, I’d rather put him in the best situation to succeed. He’s a great player finisher, capitalize on that.
The Celtics seem to agree, as they’re looking for a playmaker.
I wouldn't mind an upgrade at PG, don't get me wrong.
But Jaylen turns the ball over when he drives headlong to the rim and tries to outmaneuver like three guys.
That triple double game was the style of play I'd like to see Jaylen in....unless and until we get an upgrade at the point.
I'm not looking for a CP type PG though. Looking for more of an SGA/Haliburton type.

But like, that game is completely outside the norm for him. You can’t reasonably expect anything close to that, on a consistent basis. I think that rationally, you’d prefer any of Smart, Schroder, or Tatum to run the offense before Jaylen, even J Rich is more equipped to do that.
What you need to do is use him as a play finisher, because he’s actually elite at that. I’m all about putting the guys into best position to succeed. It’s why I want a PG, or another wing so Tatum can move back to the 4.

What about Richardson?

I say him at the 4, but really it can be that or a guy like Jeff Green or someone like that. Just need spacing, and Tatum at the 4 is the easiest path to that.

I don't care if JT plays the 2 3 or 4, I just don't want a 5 at the 4.

I love J Rich, but I think they want a more consistent scorer, someone who can legitimately create their own shots.

No way Grant comes here to be the 3rd option.

I'm really in the camp of jrich to the core team. Defends well, can shoot and playmake, haven't heard any issues in the locker room. I don't know why this guy can't be on the JT + JB + Timelord group.

I know what Fischer said, but things always change. They very well could just duck the tax, but that being their path is far from a given.

Idk, the Jabari waiving to me signaled they were gonna duck it. But who knows.
If they go into the tax this year, they can't half-ass it. Get a Barnes/Hield type and go deeper into the tax. There's no real point being $4 million or so over the tax line, might as well duck it at that point
