Re: 2023-24 Regular Season
Winning streaks are typically good for net ratings and the Cavs are no different as our overall net rating has risen to +3.8 or 10th in the league; but the interesting part is that while our defensive rating has climbed to 3rd best our offensive rating is just 18th.

Lol right after we guarantee the guy's contract, what awful timing.
Well, Pete Nance might be getting a second 10 day contract after all.

And I thought only idiots could get caught by NBA drug testing.
I suppose this might explain why TT looks 8 years younger.

Given who our PoBo is, i assume TT's spot is safe on the roster but of it were me, i would trade him. A young team like this doesn't need that kind of distraction in the final 15 games of the season before a pivotal playoff apperance.

How much of a distraction do you expect it to be?
A number of role players have been caught, done their suspension, and quietly returned.
My concern would be whether he can still contribute anything without the assistance of banned drugs.

No idea if the Bucks firing their head coach right before playing us twice in a row is a good thing or a bad thing.

My brother and one of my friends have taken SARMs, it's not even verified they work, so i wouldn't be worried about that aspect of it.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Given who our PoBo is, i assume TT's spot is safe on the roster but of it were me, i would trade him. Edit: to your other point, i guess no more distracting than the leader of the front office getting an OVI right before training camp opens lol

Good if we win both, bad if we lose both, and okay if we split

Kind of some conflicting reporting but will be funny if the Doc rumors are true.ijspeelman wrote:toooskies wrote:No idea if the Bucks firing their head coach right before playing us twice in a row is a good thing or a bad thing.

It gives some precedent for the consultant to take over the head coaching role... David Joerger, I'm looking at you.

... Why? At least Doc has some record of success, even though many have argued it was in spite of him on the bench.
There's pretty much two guys on the market that a team could hire midseason that has title-winning pedigree and the Bucks fired the other one last offseason. If the Cavs fire JBB next offseason it's not going to be because Joerger is sitting there.

If the Cavs fire JBB part of it will be a pitch to Mitchell that things are going to change for the better, so, given they'll need to be pulling this off at the last moment to try to convince him to extend; they will need as many ducks lined up as they can.
Joerger might not push the needle for Mitchell, but it's still prudent to try to lineup some options. One way or another we need to move forward with a coach we believe will be better than Bickerstaff. We can do our usual thing and go with a young/unproven assistant, but that could easily be a step backwards in the short-term and/or long-term.
Frankly it wouldn't surprise me to see the Cavs promote one of the guys who've had a tour with the Charge, I guess the list is up to: Mike Gerrity, Dan Geriot, and Nate Reinking.
Going back further, Jordi Fernandez (now associate head coach on the Kings) would be another guy who's been in the system and will likely be making the jump soon.
Whether it's one of those guys, Joerger, Budenholzer, or even Bickerstaff again ... one thing they all have in common is none of them have played in the league.
Maybe what we really should be doing is looking for the next Ty Lue, at least a former player's experience and reputation would help streamline the process. Of course being a former player didn't help Adrian Griffin keep his job, and the Cavs will have their own challenges matching a new coach to the team's construction.
There is something to be said for keeping JBB, but he needs to prove he can grow in the job.

Also, at least Dave can get outta the first round and/or be competitive in the first round lol
The requirement for JB's replacement should not be the coach won a championship, because the list is gonna be either short or nonexistent.

Oof, oh well, Jb has a shot at the 2nd round and beyond this season, so we'll just hope for the best!toooskies wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:I think i fully disagree with this.toooskies wrote:... Why? Re: 2023-24 Regular Season
Given the length of the suspension, I'd be surprised if this was TT's offense. They might as well sign Pete Nance to another 10 day. He really can't be worse than Damien.

You've been hating on Jones for a long time, now, but personally I'd still like to see more of him.
The good news is whether it's Jones, Nance, IMobley, or even Wade/Niang they can all do something TT can't do ... which is knock down 3's.
So, maybe we'll get a look at a 5 out lineup before JBB is forced to try it out of desperation in the playoffs?
