If Brogdon had an injury that was so severe he wouldn't be ready to play 4 months from now, we probably would have heard some specifics by now.
Who knows, maybe the Clippers just don't want to pay $45 million over the next 2 years for a guard who's under 6'5", 30 yrs old, (and even before this season) was known to be injury prone, and during this season he was below average defensively, and this season took ill advised shots, was at times a black hole who didn't pass the ball enough..
If that is the case them why did this take until around 10:30 PM for the deal to be blown up? I would assume if the clippers were not interested in Brogdon they would not have even been speaking to Boston to begin with.
I wouldn't assume that.
These deals take a lot of time. There's tons of deals we never hear about, because they fall apart at the last minute.
Look at the Clippers moves over the past couple of years. It's a revolving door where they just keep trying our different guys to play PG for them. They had Beverley, get rid of him, try Reggie Jackson. Flipped him for Bones Hyland. Meanwhile they tried John Wall this past season, that didn't work. So then they got Westbrook. Oh yeah, they had Bledsoe in there too for a little while. If you're a PG with a pulse, chances are you've either played for the Clippers in the past few years, or the Clippers have been in discussions about trying to acquire you during that time.
They do but they were apparently speaking all day and then at 10:30 the deal gets blown up and reports start coming out about how he has significant health issues. Doubt that is a coincidence.
I believe if Brogdon was healthy he would be a clipper because I think trading away Smart was Stevens last choice to land Porzingis
