That being said, we should pick a path. Either try to dump salary in such a deal (e.g. Lin) or one up Indiana & be willing to take on salary dumps for up to 2 years. Our best bet may be to either bargain shop this summer or take on salary, tank for 2 more years, and go nuts in 2020 after 2 years of our own pick & DWill, Mozgov & Crabbe all off the books. As much as I'd like to see progress, the latter is the best bet for avoiding mediocrity. It would necessitate potentially trading some of our 2019 FA class (Dinwiddie, RHJ & DLO), but could allow for resigning Harris if he's cheap.

We won't be going nuts in 2020 because no one is going to want to play here if the Nets continue to tank from now til 2020. that cap space will be air.

Things change if you have 2+max slots.

Not when you're a bottom feeding team that trades away talented players because they don't want to pay them. no one comes to teams like that.

Cleveland is not giving up our pick.

Cleveland needs to trade TT for DeAndre & IT for Walker. Both LA & CHA want picks to make it happen, but CHA is definitely more motivated to acquire a pick in these transactions (wheras LA is in the middle of wanting to compete now). Both CHA and CLE have bad contracts they desperately need to get rid of, and LAC is more motivated to remain competitive. The Nets aren't the best suitor per se (no team has massive cap space to grease these deals) but maybe Marks can get creative and come up with a move that contributes to both mandates.

more and more I'm seeing him as part of the core untouchables. I don't know if he's a long term starter piece, but he's an impact player who we should keep.

My idea for this:

Cavs give: Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, Nets FRP, Cavs FRP
Cavs get: DeAndre Jordan, DeMarre Carroll

LAC gives: DeAndre Jordan
LAC gets: Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, Nets FRP

Nets give: DeMarre Carroll
Nets get: Iman Shumpert, Cavs FRP.

Maybe a 2nd round pick would change hands here or there.

Agree. McCaw does nothing for me.

22 year old who has Ntilikina like D and potential offense wit an RFA bargain contract does nothing for you? I mean it won't be tough to keep him and lock him up.

For Spencer Dinwiddie and Joe Harris?

god this thread gives me a migraine. every trade being proposed is terrible for the Nets. :-?

"trade everyone for mid to late first round picks!!! trade for garbage dog ass players!! trade trade trade-"

wtf???? i'd rather the Nets do nothing if that's the best that's out there. McCaw? Thompson? jesus lord have mercy

didn't mean just deal them. But we can't say 22 yr. old w/ upside does nothing for us when this team is preparing for 2020.

Denver is definitely interesting. Would love to see a FRP from them come to us.
