Re: Pre Draft Discussion
one of Bender/Chriss have to go, but if we trade Bender, then JJ is our only defensive player in the starting lineup

How can you say that when the stats i just posted prove that Chriss was/is a much better defender???
114 to 109 Defensive rating, with a 1.3 defensive box plus/minus along with double the defensive win shares that Bender had.

You can bet your bottom dollar if the Lakers are trying to move 25 for a second rounder for salary cap purposes, the first team they called was the Suns.
I assume something like 25 for 31 and 59 would be offered. Both teams could live with that.

I can’t speak for Hesh but not everyone puts their faith in advanced stats that probably don’t tell the whole story. The simple eye test shows that bender is typically in a better defensive position than Chriss to me.

Re: Pre Draft Discussion
Stats doesn't judge Sun's defensive players properly.
But eye test alone shows Bender only has height going for him and semi mobile feet... His efforts are half as.. He's as timid defensively as offensively... Quiet frankly he doesn't compete much at all most nights
The most infuriating player I've ever laid my eyes on....so much my blood boils thinking of him playing so soft and quarter heartedly.

C: Ayton
F: Chriss
F: Jackson / Warren
G: Booker
G: Young
6 pieces that can be called "Main 6"
Do they go for Avery Bradley OR Pat Beverly OR Smart? to help boost that back court defense?
Do they sign Favors who can play both Center and Power Forward? Or do they go full-brute force offense and clear space to make space for Cousins and sign him to a 2 year 50 Million with 2nd year as player option? to entice him to "test" the waters in Phoenix.
Which would mean Ayton starts at PF and Cousins at Center.... BRUTE force offense there that would just force teams to go traditional when you have 2 big men scoring 60-65% inside.
If we were able to add Young too, I would feel better about making a run at Smart.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more chatter about teams trying to deal for Rozier.

Im fine trading Bender. No matter what one of the PFs has to go, and while Bender got more minutes, Chriss out preformed him in every aspect of the game (Besides FT% & 3PT%).
And why is that exactly? We need 2 PFs and both of the PFs in question can get minutes at the 5 as well. Unless we are drafting a PF along with Ayton I see no reason why we'd need to trade either, particularly since their value is lower to other teams than us.

I think I would be okay with this trade. I am really hoping the Suns get Grayson Allen. He has a bit of what they need - competitive, kind of jerky and can shoot the ball.

Holiday seems like the GM thinks the team needs a PG, he is the best one at that spot so he takes him. The same GM that Bordow keeps quoting that PG and C are the two biggest needs. I even have a bit of a problem reading Ayton is the pick because he fills a need, the Suns have never had a top flight center, etc. How about just picking the best damn player and the player who projects to be the best
Its really not that hard - you look at how the players are ranked and you picked the highest ranked player
I would be completely underwhelmed with Holiday. If that's the best you can do - trade the pick if you can for a veteran player.

Re: Pre Draft Discussion
My only hope for today: Kings surprise everyone and choose MPJ at #2, we then go through with the rumored deal with New York and end up with the #9 pick. McD doesn't stop there and ends up trading #9/Warren for #4/Chandler. Atlanta doesn't make a deal for #3, drafts JJJ, and then we are able to draft Luka at #4.

https://www.reddit.com/r/suns/comments/8slr3f/tomorrow_news/If MPJ is selected before # 9 I know for a fact that the Suns Knicks have a hand shake deal. Suns will trade #16 + Bender + 2019 Milwaukee pick (If not conveyed Knicks will have rights to swap with 2019 Suns #1 protected) for #9. Confident enough to back it up with gold.
1 (Ayton) and 2021 Miami pick are off limits holding too much value.
It could be total bull, but worth reading the thread. Apparently he provided the same and deleted it after the person said they believe him now.
