Most losses in clutch games. 4th worst offensive rating and 5th worst assist rate in clutch minutes.

Say it with me... This is a main guys and coaching problem, not a role player issue.

Defense has always been good under Stevens, so that part is puzzling, but what's always been Brad's weakness is offense.

Players have stopped caring on defense. Or they do so sporadically, often only once they're down big.

Stevens doesn't impose his will on offense (unlike Snyder, D'Antoni, or Kerr for example). His stars' strengths and his preferred style of play is not a perfect marriage, to put it kindly. The year Horford & IT played together might have been our peak in terms of his preferred play style.

That's because IT was the only one doing isos.

This season the Celts have this my turn, your turn offense.

That year, we had the 3rd least frequent iso possessions in the league. This season, we have the 7th most isos while being the 7th least efficient at it.

Not only that, IT was an underrated offball weapon. He really didn't mind running around screens and even be a screener himself so Stevens could use him in so many different actions with Horford as the fulcrum of the offense. We mostly went iso only in the 4th. You didn't mind it since IT rarely settled, drove to the rim, and could get to the line.

You are triggering too many happy memories for me.

I really wish Stevens could get this team to play like the 16-17 Celtics. I know he likes to have his team play to their strengths, but this offense would be amazing if he could get them to buy into that.

The solution is to change the make up of the roster.

Let Jayson Tatum be the only iso player on the Celtics.

On the road second night of a back to back vs MEM (no Kemba), then two road games vs MIL, then on the road second night of a back to back vs OKC (no Kemba).

Tough stretch there. Honestly 2-2 in those 4 is a win.

After that it opens up with nearly 2 straight weeks at home.

So was there a players-only meeting after all?

Perhaps not. The word "only" is not used.

Just to level set for folks, here's Kemba over the last 10 games:

33 MPG, 18.7 PPG, 5.2 APG, 3.6 RPG, 0.9 SPG, 42/37/93 shooting

I think that is what we need to kind of expect from him.

New depth chart:

Kemba / Smart / Pritchard / Waters
Fournier / Romeo
Jaylen / Semi / Nesmith
Tatum / Grant
RW3* / Tristan / Wagner / Kornet / Tacko

*Brad will probably still start Tristan because "vet"

Realistically will probably have a primary rotation of Kemba / Smart / Fournier / Jaylen / Tatum / RW3 / Tristan

With Grant / Semi / Nesmith / Romeo / Wagner on the fringes or if people are injured or resting

That’s always been who he is. Charlotte numbers were higher because of usage.

Starters: Walker-Smart-Brown-Tatum-Thompson
Closers: Smart-Fournier-Brown-Tatum-RWill
That's 7. Keep Brown and Tatum together as much as you can.
If they're the future Stevens has to make that work.

2nd Unit+1: Pritch-Fournier-Semi-GWill-Wagner-RWill
That's 4 more and makes 11, and someone's always out making it 10 available.

Reserves:
Waters-Carsen-Nesmith-Langford-Tacko
Maybe this year, maybe next

That's probably how we roll.
Fournier is a style of play addition and replaces Teague.
Wagner is a level of effort addition and replaces Theis.
Theis' minutes and role replaced with RWill.
That's the Way of the World

If you had only one guy who could do it then your team is going to be low on how much you do it. If IT had to play with two other guys who could do it that team would have been higher on the frequency chart. Would not have been good either, bunch of ego clashing would have been happening because IT4 has a large one (which I like and think the best have)!

Wouldn’t mind seeing that FG% a bit higher though.

Would be great if this was permament.
But, Thompson will probably get the Starting role back, when he comes back.
