In the perfect world, we got a good back up center ( kessler style) and a starting PG if Mike confirm his slow down. I would like to see Naz as a starter as well before we give him big pay check.

Why trade for a PG when we let two walk and we further Put RD in the doghouse? From the start we'd need a PF who could also play Center. Randle would and should have always been a trade chip not a solution for this "win now" team.

We should try to get a player form the pistons or Washington for Rudy.

I understand your point of view but my point was to give a chance to NAZ to show if he can be a starter before we have to pay him big.
And i'm also concern about Mike slow down. I know we got RD but he is a rookie and on my opinion he need 2 to 3 years before being able to show how good he is (Of course, if Finch stop to be stubborn and stop to stick with a 8 man rotation..)

DDV needs to transition to the true PG of this team. Let Mike be his backup and let RD play in Iowa. Meanwhile being Minott in as number 9 and TSJ as number 10. Get back to your defensive identity. Naz is always better when he starts and get 30+ minutes. Randle refuses to play D and that kills everything. It kills the culture, it kills the scheme, and it kills the playoff seeding. We also should look to find a backup big and cut Dozier ASAP. I don’t know who is out there in free agency, but Garza isn’t a C2, and we badly need one. When Rudy is off the floor we have issues.

This is why I never like trading down in talent in NBA. Now is turning into a Towns for DDV, Bogdanovic, Nance. An all star for a bunch of role player even though I like Bogdanovic.

We needed more draft capital back. This trade favored NYK and that is why we are in the spot now. Also Randle should have gone to a 3rd team and we should have a backup C and a backup PF. We sold low on KAT and are now in a weird in between space. We also had to plan for Mike’s decline and should have kept Morris. Then DDV could have played SG instead of PG, NAW can play backup SF, and we would be in great shape.

To Houston for jabari Smith and fill would be ideal.

A trade that I found that works the best from my opinion is with Houston.

MN out: Randle
In: Smith, Whitmore, Adams

Hou out: Smith, Adams, Whitmore
In: Randle

PG Conley Jr, NAW, Dilly
SG Edwards, DD
SF McDaniels, Whitmore
PF Smith, Reid, Minott
C. Rudy, Adams, Luka

In general, I understand the sentiment. But we "traded down" in the Russell for Conley trade, allowing us to get Alexander-Walker. "Trading down" can also make room for other players to shine, like when the team traded Al Jefferson to make room for Kevin Love.

No trade of Russell could be considered a trade down :D I actually think KLove can play with Al. Also would have prefer a real player instead of draft picks.

Morris is continuing his slide. He’s been nearly unplayable for Phoenix.

I like how on Reddit one poster wrote that Randle is PF version of DLo. If so I can see TC trading him right after a good stretch games right before deadline. I just hope it will be another Conley+NAW trade

minimus wrote:Would you trade Randle and DET 1st for Robert Williams III and Deni Avdija? Avdija has descending contract only 12 mil in 2027-28, 15.6 mil this season. Pair it with DDV contract and this move might give TC a lot of creativity moving forward. Like re-signing both Reid and NAW to reasonable contracts. Also I assume that with high probability Randle will test FA market. So downgrading in talent by bringing Avdija while upgrading depth might be a workaround. POR might see additional value in re-signing Randle, although I am not sure.

Also I view Williams as expiring contract next season, can't really rely on him because he is an injury prone big man. But IF Williams can stay healthy, it will significantly boost our frontcourt rotation, he also is a odd man in POR since they have Klingan and Ayton.

I like Avdija a LOT because I think playing for bad team kind of overshadowed his high IQ, competitiveness and toughness. He is not the most athletic, not the most talented, but he is a hard worker, has dog mentality.

As I wrote before Randle for Avdija + Williams trade has some hidden wrinkles, that as sum of factors might be a perfect trade for MIN:

First, Avdija has descending contract that would give TC a lot of flexiblity moving forward.
Second, Avdija can play some solid, physical defense, which has been an issues this season without Towns, when Randle, Reid and McDaniels struggles. So let say McDaniels is either in foul trouble or get frustrated. Sub in Avdija and keep defensive intensity on the level. Finally he is not passer Randle is, but he is a high IQ player with solid foundamentals, he knows how to move the ball. Not to mention he has elite effort. Deni Avdija has been having a terrible start of season, so maybe his trading value is not that high as we think. Maybe POR can find some interest between rising DET pick value, Randle talent as scorer and bad season start from Avdija. Meanwhile Williams value is high, because he has just killed MIN smallball lineup

Same idea, different trade partner. Randle for Cam Johnson, Zaire Williams and Clowney

Nets wouldn’t want Randle as they’re after assets
so would need to be a 3rd team involved

Houston makes the most sense and has the available players that fit our potential needs. Randle gives them someone to pair with VanVleet and Brooks. Replacing Jabari Smith with Randle in their starting 5 significantly helps their scoring.

I posted the same thing about Randle on Canis. He only exerts energy to score. He only passes for assists, not to just move the ball. He has lack of awareness in n both sides of the court and is not efficient. He thinks he’s a lot better than he is.

The thing is that any Randle trade means two things:

First, we will lose talent. Second, we will have to gamble on young players such as Dillingham, Minott and TJ to deliver.

And if TC indeed makes a trade, I hope we have enough talent to regroup.

I come in peace and am a Blazers fan.

Can someone explain why a rebuilding team that just paid 2 FRP and 2 SRP for a 23 year old Deni would swap him, and Williams, for 29 year old Randle?
