"We play too many night games on getaway days and get into places at 4 in the morning," Gonzalez said. "This has been my toughest season physically because of that. We play a lot of night games on Sunday for television and that those things take a lot out of you."

I told Gonzalez that teams like the Red Sox and Yankees have long had those challenges, it's part of playing for a high-profile team.

I have major respect for Gonzalez as a hitter, he's top 5 in baseball at the craft of hitting IMO. That said, after your team just finished arguably the biggest September choke job in MLB history and your team has a payroll nearing 200 million dollars, that is a really really poor time to start throwing out scheduling excuses for the collapse. Hell, 7 of their last 10 games were against Baltimore who finished 28 games back in the division.

We didn't hear Rays players complaining that Boston spent 300 plus million in the offseason on new toys while the Rays were hanging with them on a payroll that was less than Gonzalez, Crawford, and Lackey combined to make.

What a dirtbag. How many more people have to be killed or maimed before losers like him wise up enough to spring for a cab when hammered instead of endangering everyone else on the road beside him.

I still love to tie on a good buzz as many others do and in my younger days also got a DUI, but i quickly wised up after smashing into a pole that night and being so very thankful that i hadn't instead harmed or killed some innocent person because i was so selfish to get in my car buzzed.

I've kept a reminder of that night on my key-chain for about 15 plus years now and when a couple of times i found myself in a much to buzzed status where i was driving, i waited or found another way home. Hitch a ride with someone else or spend the 15-20 bucks on a cab because graveyards are filled with innocent folks via selfish drunk drivers. Man, i can't even imagine living my life knowing i killed someone's mother/father, son/daughter, or grandparent simply because i was unwilling to spring for a cab or ask for a ride home.

This guy is lucky that the worst case for him was getting nabbed by the cops.

As someone who lost a close family member to a drunk driver, I completely agree. My sympathy for people who have DUIs is minimal.
