I think he's feeling pressure from Gilbert to make the playoffs, especially with how much success LeBron has been having after he left Cleveland.

I kind of hope this doesn't happen. It's kind of sad. I wish we would get something more than financial freedom out of this trade. I understand the reasons. It just doesn't feel right.

Are you guys keeping Bynum or something? or do you feel he will be waive after the trade?

tviper wrote:Second, it really isn't all that difficult. CLE sends Bynum+Gee+(Karasev or Pick), Lakers send Pau+(X and/or Williams). At most, one player would have to be cut, but that might not be necessary if Mitch has another simultaneous move (e.g., trading Kaman into Memphis Gay TPE for a future second).

Assuming Gasol eventually gets dealt, I think it's pretty safe to say that Kaman is safe. A Hill/Williams/Sacre trio isn't going to be able to hold it down.

They'd almost certainly waive him.

Given that the hold up a few days ago was the Cavs weren't willing to part with an asset on top of Bynum to get Gasol, and now talks are revisited I think the Cavaliers might be more willing to part ways with an asset given that their rumored talks about Richard Jefferson got shot down really quickly.

Oh man if they are dumb enough to give up Bennet I would kiss Mitchs shoes.

If they take Gasol just for Bynum and Karasev.. They are going to be nearly right at if. If they send one of the aforementioned players in my last post, it gets a bit less cloudy. That's why I said they'd be right at it. That is never a good thing for a team that doesn't belong paying the tax bill. It also leaves them less flexibility going into the deadline to make any other moves.

Also the Lakers are not trading X in a deal, and what would be the point of the Cavs taking back another PF who would take possible minutes away from their development of Bennett who is in need of every minute he can get.

I swear if we trade one of the mot likeable players in Gasol for Bynum and keep him instead of waiving, I'd choke a bitch and some more but it'd make no sense to not waive him.

I have no trust in Jim Buss when it comes to Bynum though.

I hope we walk away. Unlike the Dwight situation (still believe we should have traded him at the trading deadline), I would rather Pau walk on his own. I was all for trading Pau but not for nothing (Bynum). Last night Pau looked awake for the first time. I know it could have been just one game but if he has to go I would hope it would be something beneficial. Does getting us under the tax penalty help us at all in the off-season? Now if the Cavs take on Nash as well then I will wet myself and gladly hand over Nash and Pau for nothing.

If any lakers fan thinks that for one second Mitch will just do a single a Bynum for Gasol swap your nuts.

I guarantee you that we come away with a young asset - wether it be Bennett, Waiters or and UNP first. OR dumping Nash in this deal.

Mitch isn't an idiot. He knows what he's doing.

We will waive Bynum and save a bunch of money.

Also... I bet this isn't even really happening...

How many times do Lakers deals leak out? Really never.

Bynum+Karasev for Gasol doesn't work. You need a bigger salary, which is why Gee makes the most sense. As indicated previously, makes sense for Lakers to include another player for both roster and cap reasons. Actually 5.5 is not nearly 10, so again tax isn't an issue at all for CLE in this proposed deal (that works).

As for X or Williams, they are just examples. Pick someone else, then. Looking at potential roster for next year, those 2 have the least value IMO.

May not have immediate benefits besides saving cash, but if the lakers get under the Lux tax this yr and stay under next yr, they're out of the 4 out of 5 yrs repeater tax zone and they'll have way more flexibility when they start trying to legitimately contend.

If I was Mitch and I got that offer from the Cavs I'd do it INSTANTLY. Don't really think the Cavs would offer Bennett and a 1st though.
