That's what I really meant by "probably have to win him as a true FA" ...he's (understandably) opting out. But! I think you're rather low on the 14 million per. Unless (and you'd know) there's a CBA $$ restriction, Goran Dragic is going to get 4/68 or even 4/78 offers next summer. 17 to 19+ million per year...just one of the many reasons "we" can not give Bledsoe the numbers he's asking.

We're not going to set the market for Goran with Eric's contract. If Goran gets an offer for $17, whether or not we have Eric under contract, I think we let him walk.

No chance. Why would they let him walk? He is the one guy who fans come to see and just was 3rd team all nba. You don't let talent walk. That is why, chances are much more likely than not they end up paying Bledsoe $14 million a year or so and pay Dragic whatever they need to. Sarver will not lose Dragic. The cap goes way up and the revenue flows more freely in a couple of years anyway. They've realized free agency is a crap shoot and they won't have cap space anyway so why let an all nba guy go, even if you feel you have to overpay him?

Why would the Suns be interested in Irving? Isaiah Thomas puts up the same numbers at a third of the cost. If we lose Bledsoe, I don't think starting another point guard next to Dragic would be a good idea. It only worked well last year because Bledsoe is strong enough to guard the 2 spot. I don't see Thomas or Irving being able to do that, and I cant think of many others who could.

I think Goodwin would pair well with Dragic in the backcourt, and if Bledsoe doesn't return, I hope Archie makes the best of his opportunities and cracks the rotation.

Above article makes me wonder why we don't just sign Bledsoe for the max. He will be considered cheap after the new TV deal is signed.

I don't mind us paying what it takes to lock him up, but I'm not sure it needs to be the max. He doesn't have many options. Even at 14 a year, he likely doesn't ever make the money back over the following three years even with a max from another team, which is far from a guarantee with so many teams not needing point guards.

If we somehow are able to trade Bledsoe and pieces for Kyrie Irving, I will jump for joy. Cleveland and GM Lebron would have to be bat **** insane to do that.

Irving has been an allstar and proven 20+ PPG scorer.

Phoenix trades a guy with no knee, no all star appearances, and not even a full year of playing for a proven star already wrapped up in a max contract?

Sign me up!

But I think Jalen is just talking out of his ass.

Yet Lebron does seem to have a hard on for Bledsoe and his interactions with Gerald Green at last seasons games show that Lebron likes Green.

And with Lebron and Love, the Cavs are already paying two guys max money.

Hmmm...

I'll eat my hat if Dragic gets over $17Mil a year. Good player, but that's a pretty bad overpay. It would seriously handicap us in building a roster if he's making almost 1/3rd the salary cap. He's not LeBron.

Well Lebron basically gets whatever he wants so if he wants Bledsoe instead of Irving, I would not be shocked if the Suns made that trade. There is also no way to say Irving is not a max player. He is only 22 years old and is already the starting point guard for Team U.S.A. The guy is definitely a max player. He was even this past year's All Star Game MVP when he was only 21 years old at the time. I would sign and trade Eric Bledsoe for him. I doubt Cleveland would do it though. I absolutely would not include Miles Plumlee in any trade for him though. Plumlee is a major piece of the future of this Suns team. He is the perfect role player center. Put him next to a scoring power forward and this team will take the next step.

I would give Goran $15 mil next summer, maybe $16 mil. Anything over $17 mil would be crazy IMO. I love Goran and he's had a lot of history with the us, but I think that history kinda clouds our judgement at times. He's only had one great season with 20/6. Those are not really max player stats IMO. If he upped his stats to 25/10 this season then sure, but with IT and possibly Bledsoe on the team that is unlikely.

Knowing Goran, he would probably not ask that huge of an amount. He loves Phoenix and he doesn't seem to be all about the money, unlike mini lebron.

There is some serious gamesamanship going on here. If we get Bledsoe back on a long-term contract, it will mean that Bledsoe and Dragic will need to share backcourt duties. That means that there is a likely chance that Dragic's numbers may slip back down to a range closer to Bledsoe's for the season. That will help diminish Dragic's value, which may lead to a lower contract number.

I think the Suns would ideally like to have their backcourt signed up for no more than $28 million between them. One on a decreasing contract, one on an increasing contract. That will keep that number close to the $28 million for the whole period, and allow them the flexibility to take advantage of the new TV deal bump to the Cap to catapult the suns into negotiations with other FA's. Projected Cap is somewhere around $85 million for 2016-2017 based on doubling the BRI from the TV deal. The Suns would have $57 million to spread around the rest of their team. That is a lot of money out there. Enough for two other full max players ($20 mil) with plenty left over for role players. Tax probably won't come in until $95 million at least.

SunsFanSSOL wrote:Why don't we just spend the rest of our $19m of cap space on Goran and Zoran Dragic? No point in taking any risks, or spending any money that would potentially hurt our valued position as 9th seed in the West. The marketing team and Sarver's dream: "Come see the Phoenix Suns, the team with the identical twin Morris bros, the 9 fingered high flyer Gerald Green, the shortest player in the NBA Isaiah Thomas and the Euro bros with the weirdly similar names Goran and Zoran compete for the 9th seed!"

I don't know if you think you are being funny, but I really just don't like these types of posts. IT did quite well last year, with similar numbers to a guy crying for a max contract, yet we paid nowhere near the max for him. The twins were a huge reason our bench played so well last year. Green stepped up when we lost our starting pg for half the season, and Goran is our only player that made an all NBA team.

So I'm left thinking this post lacks knowledge about the team, the players, their potential, and the direction in which the team is going. Maybe it's time you go follow the Spurs. :(

The salary cap will be MUCH higher in 2 years. If we don't keep him, we don't compete for a while. He may not be as good as last year without Frye, but you have to keep him, especially if we lose Bledsoe, but even if we keep him, you don't let him go. And it's more like 1/4 of the salary cap, especially next year.

I haven't been following all the basketball feeds while watching football today, but did we try and get Zoran? I only ask because I looked at twitter and saw this.

Yes, it's going to increase but we don't know how much yet. What we do know is that it's not going to balloon up all at once. The league has said as much. It'll will be a gradual increase. These teams already splurging on salaries like the new Tv deal is here are idiots and will pay a heavy price for it.

Maybe Goran would be more likely to resign with us on a less lucrative contract so he can play with his brother.

How much is less lucrative and would the savings be offset by the contract we'll have to offer Zoran to lure him away from his Euro team? Lots of questions
