Okay.

Still cant get over with that stats huh ? Embiid had the fourth worst +/- last night does that mean he had a bad game ?
Also he said we lost close game WITH Okafor sitting on the bench not BECAUSE ……

Embiid did have a bad game by normal standards. He had a good game considering how long he's been out.

But its nothing to do with his poor +/- . Hes +3 when he was back on the court with 4mins to go and the team lead 3 even he's been meh before. Then he took over the game and finished the game beautifully but we lost by 6 and his +/- end up with -6. And now you tell me the +/- has any meanings on how he played the whole game ? I just dont think so.

I had my doubts if he could do that but this guy is the consummate teammate and is willing to do whatever he can to help the team. While I would prefer to have 2 rim protectors in Embiid and Noel it just seems to be wishful thinking at this time and Noel seems to be the one to go as much as I like him. I've said before and I'll say again, I think Okafor can really excel coming off the bench playing 20-25 minutes per night and giving us 12-14 points. His mind seems to be in the right place and his heart as well.

If he played 20-25 minutes he would average over 12-14 points, but he needs more minutes than that. He needs to play 28-32 minutes in the end, and we need to figure out if we are the right team for him.

The only reason that we should trade him would be if it is better for Simmons, and Embiid if we do. That is what we need to evaluate over the next 2 years.

He is 20 years old. That keeps having to be restated. He isn't 25, and done expanding his skills. Developing his skills are more important to the Sixers than anyone else other than Embiid, and Simmons. We need to see what he can do with as many minutes as possible.

I agree with all of this.

The only goal with regard to Jahlil this season is building up his value.

He was drafted as a valuable asset in the first place, he needs to get minutes and put up numbers so we can move him for a decent return.

If we need to move him that is.

Whether he is eventually traded or not, it benefits everyone that his skills are maximized, and he is the best player he can be.

It is much more important than whether or not we win games this year.

Read on Twitter

FWIW, BB has handled Jah well. A good coach knows how to make the best (turn players into positives or atleast minimal negatives) out of his players.

Jah hasn't looked that impressive overall but he looks more active on D although it still lacks for a very good defensive big.

Offensively, he needs to be automatic on shots around 10ft. No more half assed floaters. He also need to be a better jump shooter.

That 2 mins of Jah-Biid looked good, specially on D. Offensively, Jah being guarded by an opposing PF gives you good position on D to rotate the ball to the open man off help defense.

Where is Jahlil Okafor? Probably in the paint during a P&R of the opponent.

I hope they're going to force him out of his comfort zone this season. Don't let him sag 15 feet during pick and rolls, I'm not asking for a hard hedge but at least a minor hedge to let his presence known. Maybe it's because he's not in training long enough too showcase some mobility on the defensive end, but he looks slimmer than ever. Let him make mistakes, we're not in a win now mode anyway.

Yup, he's not that long and athletic to sag that low. He needs to do a "minor hedge" then if the handler is able to pass to the roll man, someone (preferably a C) should be able to slide and protect the rim.

And he also needs to be quicker on his feet to get into better position than relying on his vertical to challenge drives.

But overall, there's some improvements but still a long way to go.

Ya how at the end of the game does Embiid or Okafor not get the ball? Gerald Henderson gets the ball instead? Sorry but 0 excuse for Embiid not to get the ball at the end. Okafor should've been out there as an emergency plan if for some reason you couldn't get it to Embiid.

Because he is behind a better player, and they haven't worked it out yet how to play them together.

A month from now he probably would be out there with Embiid at the end.

-jah doing a better job defending the roll man, issue is when ball handler is a shooter where Jah sags off too much
-jah is sticking with his one hand rebound (other hand pulling his man down)

yeah i hope so. Brett kind of promised us that. but i don't remember him playing Jah at the end of any of the close games we played last year. all of which we seemed to lose. which i figured was the point in the race for the bottom. maybe different circumstances now, but the next time we let Jah go for one of his high percentage drives at the end of a close game will be the first one.

Okafor is going to be a special player. Just 21 y.o. blown away by amount of Sixers fans who want to trade him. Unreal.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
