I dont think they need to give up Irving to easily have the best offer. Brown would easily be the best player and they still have a treasure chest of 1st round picks.
Yeah, I don't think that gets it done. It would be one thing if Ainge led with that and pushed away other teams, but unless RC has been calling Danny begging for Brown, suddenly adding him to the offer isn't going to get PATFO to break off talks with Philly.
What is Philly offering that is so great though? Fultz/Covington/Saric? Their own draft pick and a 2021 Miami pick? Thats not really an offer someone cant refuse there. The SAC pick has far greater value than any pick Philly can offer, the Memphis pick has better value than any Philly can offer.
Brown/Rozier/Williams/(whoever else needed to make cap work) + SAC/Mem/BOS picks. Beats whatever Philly can offer.
Rozier has zero (0) value to the Spurs, especially against Fultz. Maybe they do like Williams (I know I did), but probably not more than Saric. Covington's the legit SF replacement they need if they are going to try to keep winning. The SAC and MEM picks are overrated and don't cancel out Fultz and the MIA pick.
More importantly, I imagine SA would negotiate in full faith with Philly. Unless they specifically covet those guys from Boston, they aren't going to agree to a deal with Philly but back away just because of another offer. They just don't work that way. If Philly offers "enough" for Kawhi, they will win. PATFO has never been a team that cares about maximizing "value".
