One thing that does get glossed over because we won.... Nash/Our staff needs to figure out challenge and timeouts. That sequence were the shot clock didnt run on the jump ball with 3.1 seconds should have been a shot clock violation followed bya 3th/5th foul on Harden that was Bogus.
It seems we dont get the simple challenges right.
4th/5th foul on your star + questionable call + FTs for the other team = automatic challenge

It's kind of funny seeing opposing fans after we play them. They're not even mad or hating - we just leave them feeling defeated
Fans Pre-Game: Nets dont scare me at all. Their D is awful. Harden will get exposed like Kyrie always does. Their bench is terrible too.
Fans in-game: Come on [Player X], how are you going to let Harden/Kyrie keep scoring? How are we not scoring on their trash D?! our bench sucks!!
Fans Post-game: Im not even bad... no one is beating the nets
Same fans that said Harden was selfish, fat and toxic and Kyrie sucks. Good for them

Boston fans probably get sick about that. Every single game too

Feels like coaches are way too paranoid about needing to use it for the last play of the game or something. Brad Stevens is the same way n he's supposed to be a genius lol. That Smart play was Harden's 4th and 3 FTs. That's a big time to use it even if you don't win it.
That shot clock one was so ridiculous. It was a jump ball - CLEARLY off Jaylen Brown. First, it should've been our ball anyway. Second, even if Boston got it, they should've had no time to score. Instead the refs called it a jump ball and gave the Celtics a full 24 shot clock. Of course they scored too.
The refs were just straight up awful. Apparently they were shorthanded but still - embarrassing game by the 2 guys. One of them looked like a high schooler too.

Re: Celtics @ Nets 7:30 PM on TNT
I think the challenge rules need to be changed...like, I don’t think you should only give a coach 1 challenge. Should make it like 1 challenge per half, and if you don’t use it in the first half, it rolls over. Then they wouldn’t be nearly as conservative with it.
Also, if the refs review something and then determine that the ball went out of bounds off a player but it was the result of a missed foul, then the ball can remain in possession for that team, because they missed the foul. It’s ok to admit that you missed something on review.
Furthermore, this whole “team X won the challenge, but since there was no clear possession so let’s just jump it up at center court with 24 full seconds on the shot clock” is complete BS. Not sure exactly how they can resolve that, but this isn’t working. It’s going to cost a team a playoff game, I’m calling it now.
Also, yeah, that whole sequence where the shot clock didn’t run after a jump ball and then they decided to just jump it up at center court with a full shot clock was nonsense. That’s where the officials should have just reviewed it and checked to see how much time should be left, if any at all. If more than 3.1 seconds passed before the ball went out of bounds, they should have called it a shot clock violation and we should have gotten the ball.

Honestly we didn't even play that good but always felt like we were winning regardless.
Celtics are trash compared to us this season. Different levels.
Kyrie is an ARTIST. Incredible showman. It's a treat watching him destroy defenses on a nightly basis.
Good to see Shamet is finally playing like we hoped he would.
Overall solid team performance. Looked a bit rusty first game back from ASG but solid enough.

Which i dont get because everything under 2 minutes can be reviewed by the refs anyway and if its the game on the line you know they are going to take a look.

Yea they should of challenged that Marcus Smart 3 point shot that was called a foul when he clearly jumped into Harden. IDK if we can challenge that under the rules but that was clearly not a foul.

I had the same complaint but then Nash turned right around and challenged the out of bounds call that Harden was adamant about and we won it. We don't get that challenge call if Nash uses it on the Harden 5th foul which was going to be a subjective call.

Nice win. The narrative of your poor defense has been greatly overstated.
Thanks. Yeah our defense has been about middle of the pack levels for awhile now, which isn't great but is just good enough to balance out with our offense.
Dont get me wrong, weve had some legit awful performances. but our D is alot better then the rankings. we had alot of games were we give up 115 points but still win in a blowout. or were up 30 and the bench allows a 40 point 4th quarter in a game we still win.
We are probably about what we were last year. 8-12 range
I'm not able to quantify it but I would say we're getting there especially now that we're taking care of the ball and rebounding better as a team. We were always getting stops early on but we would give up offensive rebounds which killed our momentum.

is there video of that clip?
It was on the post game presser with Irving, I don't have a link. Maybe it's on the new YES app???
It was a long session at that, Kyrie is really about positivity and humility at this point in his life, I'll say that much.

The Harden call was possesion + 1 4th foul on a star + 3 points
The one he challenged was just possesion and Harden had to talk him into it.
Kyrie, not Nash had to plead with officials about the shot clock not starting which should have expired.
not Nash's finest moment. He needs to turn challenges over to someone else like some NFL teams do

Yeah but the chances were a lot higher on the Jaylen Brown out of bounds call than the Smart BS call, the out of bounds challenge basically killed Boston.
Now yeah, you or I would have said no foul because Harden clearly tried to avoid Smart jumping into him, but you know how the refs handle those bogus lean in three pointer calls. The league needs to declare lean in threes to be an offensive foul if the defender does not leave his feet.

its not just likelyhood of it being overturned, its whats at stake. just like in poker... going "all in" when there is just blinds in the pot with a good hand is nce, but you dont gain a ton.
All to gain in the play they got reversed was possession of the ball.
If they won the other they get possesion, 3 points, and 1 foul. even if that was a 1/3 chance and the other was 3/3 chance you still challenge the foul because there is much more to gain.
On top of that, the logic doesnt add up. You cant say your saving the challenge for a critical late play, then use it on a non-critical non-late play a few seconds later.

Could have pulled Harris's arm out of its socket, that's a super dangerous play.

I don't think Smart was trying to injure Harris, but that play was deserving of a foul call. He was being an idiot, clearly.

I do.
He knows the tricks. He knows that fighting for a rebound is a time where you can go after someone, and the likelihood of foul is minimal. There is no reason to grab and pull his right arm out of socket, while climbing over him. This was no accident.
The sad part is, those two really bonded on the USA team. Jealousy is real.
