Seems crafty with the ball, plays with good balance and the release is pure. Schutt is the guy I wanted and UW was in on him early, but once the powers came calling it was a wrap. Recent footage shows decent build on him, by which I mean he isn't a sapling. If UW ends up with Huff, they'll have two guys with extremely hockey sounding names.
Kerb, do you know who recruited him? Been a while since they got an Indiana kid.

Haha... so do we need to be skeptical of every recruit's shooting abilities until the end of time because of the Krabby experience???

Haha, Krabbenhoft was more of a, "he's a big forward that can score at the rim, defend, and shoot" where the "and shoot" was supposed to mean he can hit some 3s.
I would hope that a guy described purely as a shooter will translate to college.

I personally judge each new recruit based on the outcomes of a past recruit that is now in his mid 30's.

I'm going off of 3rd hand stuff I've read and some of my own commentary mixed in...
Hard to judge without Hepburn or Bowman who would be running the show.
Carlson and Crowl definitely are promising.
3/20 on 3s...yuck.
Isaac Lindsay is kinda good given expectations.
The one highlight I saw of Ilver playing defense...zero lateral quickness. I did see that his stroke and hops look very good but didn't show up in the game.
Mors has a very odd body type.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
I was there. Eye test follows:
Hepburn is bigger than Bowman which was surprising because Bowman looked solidly built in HS.
Mors is the palest Badger since Butch. Shot has a weird hitch and him holding the state record for points in one of the Dakotas does it really matter which one is the biggest indictment of basketball in one of the Dakotas does it really matter which one.
Brad Davison took a charge because of course he did. TBF, he looked great and talked up a storm. Homey getting ready to be the graduate assistant. I'm sick of him and glad he's still around.
Ilver's shot is legit. Didn't watch him match apart from that. Body looks ready for B10.
Crowl has a solid base despite looking thin framed above the waist. Fluid with the ball, good touch and played stoutly against the older Vogt. He'll be another good Wisconsin big, just a matter of when.
Carlson quietly looked good. Vogt might start the season, but him and Crowl will get the bulk of the minutes at the end of the year.
Vogt's a big body with experience. That matters. However, no touch and will be bring little on offense beyond screening and finishing. Do not confuse his impact with Potter's, think Jason Chappelle.
Neath will be a fringe rotation guy, but he will lose most of his time to Chuckie, Bowman and...
Jordan Davis re-did his body and now looks like a Johnny Davis clone. Does not play like a Johnny Davis clone, but the Mike Flowers comparisons are looking less far-fetched.
John Davis is who you hope he is. Superfluous to add more than that.
There were some pre-teens who gushed "Whoooo is that?" and I was like "Gilmore, girls," and then I got loose with some Carol King. You didn't think Chones got down with Stars Hollow? For shame. Anyway, young squire from Arrowhead might-could get some non-garbage time. He also might-could not.
I extensively studied facial expressions and body posturing viz a viz the players and the embattled Greg Gard.
My findings are inconclusive.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Carlson was getting rotation minutes as a true freshman before his injury.
I know that may have a lot to do with the fact that his body was B10 ready almost right away and Crowl was the skinny/skilled guy that needed time, but yeah, not a surprise if Carlson is a factor if he stays healthy.

Can we make this the Wisconsin College Basketball Thread? I'm going rogue and posting about UWM here.
They looked really bad on Saturday. How could they have not get a couple grad transfers where to put about around PBJ? They probably would've lost to MSOE without him. Got to imagine they could've told a non-rotational player in a bigger conference and be like you will get 35 min a game playing next to a top 15 player in college.
Also, saw vin baker Jr is on the roster. Is he expected to play? Add in a Bol cousin and Courtney Browns dad was a harlem global trotter for random family ties on this team.

Sure include UWM here. Marquette has it's own thread.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Excited for this season. I'm not coming in with any expectations (apart from continuing to not like Brad Davison (sorry)). This is a team of new blood, even considering the guys returning. Will be just a totally different makeup, and I'm ready for it regardless of experience and success, frankly. I am just hoping to see some life and promise.
That, and Ben Carlson, healthy, becoming the player I hoped and thought he could be.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
I'm glad they have a relatively soft schedule early.
Last time they had a bit of a reboot team 4 years ago they had a bit of a tougher schedule and after some early injuries were dead by mid-B10 season.
That said, I'm not even sure I'm confident against middling teams like Texas A&M or Providence early until they get in the swing of things (pun intended).

I didnt make it to the msoe game, but I have like 2nd row seats for this season. Should be entertaining enough to watch a lotto pick vs mid major comp.
