Kyrie is unpredictable and was a disaster on 2 other teams. This is the bed they laid for themselves. Just re-sign Kyrie to run his contract as long as KD's and then be done with both of them.
If they wanted to be done with them they could simply keep the hard line with Kyrie and let KD demand his trade. That's clearly not what they want though.
