Lots of variations to sign a 2nd round pick. Could be 4 yr rookie deal with our MLE, could be 2-way, could be camp deal...several options. We'll need Keith or Khobi to share details to get an idea of how the team really feels about him.

Keep in mind we already have 15 on the active roster. If he's signed to a guaranteed deal, someone is getting traded (RJ/Ross) or waived (Cannady/Ross/RJ/Bol).

True...that's also why great teams fill their bench with redundant shooting specialists. I just think of MIA a few years back, "ok, Mike Miller, it's not your night...James Jones, you're up".

Yea but Miller was career 41% and James Jones 40% three point shooter. And Miller was more than a shooter, it's his Heat version that was just onedimensional. ( probably due physical decline and age, he could harly move)

Yep. That's my point. Shooting can be hot and cold, that MIA team had a handful of guys on their bench that were vets who didn't take it personally if they weren't that night's shooting star. Seems like a role for TRoss. I understand it's not that appealing a role for a vet, but it sure would be nice to have a few guys like that to work in and out of the rotation around our young core...problem is, with young guys, if they hit 40% from 3 on high volume, they line up for $18m/year and they quickly become overpaid, if they don't add much to their game...there's a bunch of those guys out there. That's another reason that I hope they can integrate Caleb quickly...if he 'develops' in the G League, that's a low cost year wasted for the team. A good sized guy who moves without the ball, hits threes all day, and plays a little D should have plenty of opportunities to earn time next to Paolo, Franz, and Fultz.

But Ross is career 36% shooter. He lives off taking bad shots.
He is more of a Lue WIlliams than Mike MIller.

Lue was never actually great, he was high usage bench chucker who had more green lights to do things others also could, but didn't have same teratment. That's pretty much Terrence Ross for Magic since he got here. He was used in fashion that Toronto would never allow him , and that got him contract that players who fit his arhytype never should.

And again, outside of P5 the talent he played with wasn’t great. If he can find his open spots we have guys that can find him.

Caleb is a project. He needs to improve in so many areas of his game. For a dude that is 6.8", I'm not seeing ANYTHING other than a streaky shooter. On offense, he likely is what he is and should just focus on becoming a deadly shooter. I'm more concerned about everything else from defense to rebounding. 3&D players are valuable. Guys that shoot 3's but can't defend are not. Hopefully he puts in the work because he has the physical attributes to be a good 3&D player if he accepts his role.

He at least tried on defense and was running like crazy without the ball on offense, also nice timing on cuts. He could be something if his athletecism improves. Definetly a project.
