I mean. The team we sent isn't particularly big or athletic. Not enough of our top stars even wanted to go.

On and off the court Ja Morant is the true definition of WOW!
Who else can do a 360 dunk then go to the club and 360 with the glizzy. Ja Morant is WOW!
The best American player right now is still Curry imo. I have Tatum as the 2nd best American player.tsherkin wrote:JustBuzzin wrote:Ja Morant doesn't wow you?Woodsanity wrote:There isn't a single young american player that wows me right now. I don't think he meant just with athleticism, but in totality as a player. He's not particularly bright, can't shoot, is inefficient and has heath issues every season. He doesn't wow me either, even if his drives to the hoop are quite impressive.

Curry changed the game and is still a WOW kind of player.

The best players from other countries all have glaring weaknesses and none of them have dominated like American players. For example, over the last decade LeBron and Steph have 8 combined titles whereas Giannis and Jokic have 2 combined titles.
There have only been 4 or 5 foreign Finals MVPs over the last 20 years. The rest are Americans.

Instead of trying to crap on American players, we should be thrilled over the fact that the rest of the world is starting to produce big-time players in larger numbers now, increasing the quality of the NBA. Increasing competition. Steamrolling the world was cool in 92, defending it in 96 the same. After a while, that becomes a formality. But thankfully, the world got better. If the US were sending it's best to all of these competitions, we would still see them crushing, but that's not how they are doing things. As the world increases in skill and focus on basketball, though, we're seeing competition and that's fantastic for the quality of basketball.
American players aren't overrated, but we're seeing the result of international talent development and that's awesome.
