Let's not forget for whatever reason KAT (or the Knicks) went back to drop coverage.

It's one of the weirdest things I've seen in sports. This team does not play well at home.

I think it's more we don't get clean looks. The Knicks half-court offense has been hideous this entire playoffs. I'm not even talking clutch time. Just getting into a normal action should not be this hard.

I think we do get clean looks but just haven’t shot well. Today was tougher for sure and Celtics did ramp up their intensity but I still think we had good opportunities and just missed.

No, we don't. Scramble plays that devolve into ISO ball are not clean looks. The majority of these 3's were head fakes-step back-shoot instead of taking the initial open shot.

Some were off the dribble and some were open looks from a pass. We just couldn’t many of them. Not all of our shots are going to be wide open shots, just like the Celtics weren’t getting all wide open shots. They too were taking step backs off the dribble shots but they made their this time. Tatum and Pritchard destroyed us on iso 3s and some of those shots they made were actually well defended and we contested but they hit and we bricked.

Fact is we are 14-56 from 3 in the last two games and we simply have to shoot better especially at home where we had our worst shooting game. We actually shot better in Boston

Honestly it felt like they took the game off on defense and fighting for everything.

You strongly dislike him lol

It’s crazy that he barely shoots 3s. Pritchard can take 10 a game but KAT hardly takes any

To me a sign of a likely absentee coaching staff is that we do stuff in very short fits and starts and nothing is sustained

KAT disappears in G2 versus Detroit so he starts getting the ball a lot in G3. But it’s a one-off

Thibs can’t or doesn’t, and maybe some is the players, stick to it. KAT hogs for one game and that is it even though it was one of your most consistent wins of the post-season

You can see the lack of a plan in the fact that just bc you did something one game — and it worked — does not mean it’s coming back

That’s likely a coach that is not coaching really

And you forgot Hart who is 4-14 which is at 28% from 3. Not to mention the open looks he passes

That’s 3 starters who are shooting horrific from the outside this series

G2 KAT is out of it and we lose

G3 he dominates action and we win

But does that mean it’s going to continue? No

If KAT is abandoning the best coverage on his own, that’s the coach’s fault ultimately

If we are not feeding him just bc we tried it one game (and it worked btw), but The game tells you what to do, then we are being mismanaged

The coach tells you what to do

Someone needs to guard Pritchard.

im less concerned about the defense...
The defence is the most concerning. We're in huge holes because of it. That KAT can't exploit a mismatch is a problem. They just have to put Hart opposite him and then he dropsteps all the time.

What he’s putting out there as offense has been a joke

But he’s got a 2-1 lead

If a coach wins, nobody cares

If he wins this series, nobody will care

If he loses, that offense is gonna start looking real questionable

I have a pet theory that on the road a team, with obstacles in front of them and forcing some unity, can do a few things to make up for a lack of a system …. At home it becomes more glaring
I have a theory the Knicks are at their best. Shooting teams create feast or famine results.

for sure. they had 71 points at the half. the defense was what put this game out of reach.

I think we basically play the same way home/road. Maybe we are a little more tight at home because we want to play well for the crowd we force some more things.

But the fact we can't get KAT easy looks all season is beyond belief. Celtics are basically saying we don't want Horford on KAT...we don't want KP on KAT...we don't want Kornet on KAT....

we don't want Brunson on some of there best guys but they are able to find that matchup.

We don't do any pre-screening or off ball screening to get KAT the right matchup. A shooter of his quality is never offball screen to get an open 3.

Josh screening for Brunson instead of him screening off ball for OG or Mikal is so dumb.
Brunson wants it.

I don’t think Thibs is good enough but I see the other side a lot too. Look at the Warriors tonight … no Steph, and their offense looks dead … and Wolves looking good without KAT

So yeah … not gonna come down on one side too hard here

All I hope for is the Knicks have a single great all around showing. They have not had a single one the entire playoffs so far.
