Tonight's game makes a great case for why Dirk is never going to win a title as the best player. 2 misses and a turnover down the stretch cost his team the game. The Mavs aren't even a contender anymore.

To be fair...its two extremes really. They don't double Kobe at all...he kills em. They double him beyond the 3 point line..Odom kills you. Thats really two extremes. Good coaches know when to double and how.

Lakers have to keep on winning though. As a Rocket fan I don't want to play them or SA. Hopefully we can see NO or Utah..but that really depends on NO actually hitting a slide as we finish up which it looks like they will not do.

lamar odom has impressed me as of late

How about that pointless technical by Howard when the team was already struggling to make stops? The Mavs are weak-minded. It starts with Avery and Dirk. They so remind me of those early 90's Portland teams.
It took 10 frickin' years, but we've finally got a legitimate franchise player to lead us back to the top.

Mavs always seem to choke down the stretch.

Dirk is struggling with an injury and overall played very well. Josh Howard was the one missing a ton of wide open shots

cosign. Odom gets way too much hate. I would take him on the Rockets any day.

Suns fans honestly think Amare is the MVP. I wouldn't call that under appreciated. And since Lamar has been on his tear laker fans have cooled down on the hate. He still misses some free throws down the stretch and makes some dumb plays ever now and again though.

The Mavericks are missing some sense of defense down the stretch. You don't double Kobe so far away from the basket. And you have to rotate quickly once the ball leaves the hands of Kobe. It's in times like these I trust the Celtics and Pistons. Sometimes you have to scramble defensively down the stretch. Layups killed the Mavs tonight.

Agree with that. Too bad the Cavs insisted on trading for Darius Miles instead of Odom in the Andre Miller deal... :noway:

Dirk isn't really weak-minded or chokerific, Josh Howard on the other hand... He's the definition of a soft finesse player.

is Josh Howard the biggest choker in the NBA?..

Odom's hate on the GB seems mostly from fans that want to elevate Kobe even higher when it comes to value to his team and MVP talk..of course it probably goes deeper on the Lakers board, and they obviously must have their reasons..

Yea its defense. Game wasn't won down the stretch. It was won when the Lakers threw their second unit in there and they closed the lead from 9 to 2. I don't care how good your second unit is...that should never happen and it should never happen with Dirk, Howard and Kidd on the floor.

does Dallas have any offensive "team" plays? While Lakers were killing at the end with ball movement all MAvs did were predictable isos, this seems to be happening in all their close games since the trade. It would be nice to have PG that can actually penetrate in halfcourt offense and create open looks.

Lamar Odom is shooting 51% from the field with 14 pts and 10 rebs. It seems the Lakers fans want him to average 25 pts and 20 rebs.
