Re: DeMarcus Cousins. How good can he get?
yes really.
There are no bigs who can score and rebound like him, and are as efficient.
Nobody really comes close to him. For a freshman to lead the NCAA in per for 40 mins is crazy in both pts and rebs.
And to anyone who says he gets all this because of Wall, they are kidding themselves, watch a Kentucky game. Most of his work comes on offensive rebounding, putting himself in good position. The amount of and 1's he gets is nuts.
He's by far the best Big in this draft like I said. Just going based off what I've seen personally, Jan vesely is my 2nd favorite big ( watched him verse Barca and Panthankios (Sp) ) and fell in love with his game. I prefer him to aldrich or favors. I haven't had a chance to see Donatas.
Cousins and Vesely are my 2 favorite bigs in this draft. Aldrich is solid too. Whiteside has a big upside if he enters, but has come back to earth. Favors does nothing for me.

There is a big difference between talent and production. If you say no big in this draft is putting up the numbers Cousins is, then I agree. If you say no big in this draft is as talented as Cousins is, then I very much disagree.

I think I'm starting to understand Cammo..He's saying it doesnt matter at all how players actually perform, what matters most is how much hype they received in high school.
I can tell Cammo never actually watches these kids play..Why would he? Performance doesnt matter. It doesnt matter that Favors cant dribble or shoot. Doesnt matter how soft he plays..What matters is that DX declared a year ago that Favors has the most potential.

I have watched enough basketball to know that college stats do not equate to NBA success. Were you on here a few years back saying stuff like...
"Adam Morrison is the best player in the country, why would any morons rate Rudy Gay ahead of him?"
"Sean May is the most dominate big man in college basketball, why on earth would the Lakers take Andrew Bynum over him?"
But if it makes you feel better to think I am just regurgitation hype (which makes no sense because Cousins is about as hyped as it gets right now), then have at it. Anyone who has been on this board for a while knows I have a pretty good proven track record for this. I was the first person saying Durant should go ahead of Oden. I was the first person hyping Brandon Roy when he was still a second rounder on most mocks. And I was the person taking a beating for how highly I rated Brook Lopez a few years back. Imagine how much better I would be at this if I actually watch the games.

Re: DeMarcus Cousins. How good can he get?
Cammo - right now, its hard for me to watch Cousins dominate on a nightly basis, and Favors struggle almost every other game....and still rate Favors ahead of him....I just can't do it.
I think I summed it up perfectly about 2 weeks ago:
Pros for Cousins (over Favors):
Cousins is the better scorer
Cousins is the better rebounder
Cousins is the better passer
Cousins is the better shot-blocker
Cousins is bigger
Cousins can play C
Cousins has post moves
Pros for Favors (over Cousins):
Favors has a better vertical
Favors is younger

Cousins also plays with intensity while I actually watched Favors get bullied around by Kyle Singler.

Does anyone know if Sid is ok?
It's been over 12 hours since he has posted something glowing about Cousins.
I'm getting worried.

Maybe Cousins finally got a restraining order against him.

Re: DeMarcus Cousins. How good can he get?
The difference between Cousins and Favors is that Favors hasn't progressed through this season like you would have expected him to, while Cousins has.
These things happen with 18 year olds. Look at Hakeem's first season in college, for example. When I watch Favors, he still looks like a fundamentally sound big guy who is going to be a star. His lack of assertiveness is puzzling, but his lack of post moves isn't at all. He doesn't get the touches that Cousins does--and let's not forget that Kentucky plays a much faster paced game than G-Tech does--so that's a part of it. I still see the makings of a star when I watch him, but I can see why scouts have begun to inch him down the board. I have no problem with Cousins being rated higher right now. In fact, I think he deserves it. But I also would never want him on my team. I'm just not risking a super high pick on him, until he completely changes his make-up. ie, never.

What does he do right? He can't dribble , shoot or defend laterally because of the cement shoes he wears. So what is it ?

Re: DeMarcus Cousins. How good can he get?
When I've seen him, admittedly only in small stretches, haven't gotten a chance to sit down and watch an entire game yet though I have caught parts of several, he's looked quick on his feet, has great footwork in the post and doesn't rush things. Isn't aggressive enough, obviously, but that will change with time, imo. Also, rarely gets post touches, so its hard to say that he has no handle. In the college game big guys don't get much of a chance to catch the ball with their backs to the basket and work against their man. So don't tell me he has no handle, because its basically impossible to tell and his TO rate isn't out of line with usual big men numbers.

Re: DeMarcus Cousins. How good can he get?
It is really simple here. Not all great players have great freshman years. So, to write someone off after 3/4 of a season is just not smart scouting. Most basketball people thought Cousins was the more refined of the two and the one in the better situation to succeed. So, why everyone is so up in arms about Cousins having a better season is beyond me.
It is not about who is the best now. It is about who will have the better NBA career. To say that is Cousins without a doubt is pretty shortsighted IMO. Many many great players had average freshman years.

In fairness, you have moved cousins way up in your mock draft, and moved favors down.
So I think cousins has surpassed expectations and favors maybe hasn't lived up to expectations. As he was widely considered the #2 pick. That much I hope you can admit.

I am pesonally not writing Favors off....still think he has a ton of upside. However, its my opinion that Cousins will always have more value.

I think it's more how he's going about it. Basically everything I read about the kid before he got to UK mentioned his poor motor, disinterest, hanging around the perimeter and overall laziness. At UK he's mostly kept his butt in the post, looks to be in better shape and played with a flat out tenacity. Also, even though he's in a better situation, the degree to which he's taken advantage of it is pretty startling. If he'd shown more of this in high school, the perception of him coming into the year would likely have been a whole lot different.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Cousins has only been playing basketball for about 6 or 7 years, he just started playing basketball on late 2003. unlike other top ranked kids in prep basketball who start playing basketball since their childhood days. cousins likes football more, on his childhood days, ever since a growth spurt convinced him to give up football. He’s a late bloomer in basketball, he’s just starting. Its scary because he’s already a beast, he’s already that good and still developing. Expect an improvement on his game every year because he just starting (he’s not yet a finish product). Sky the limit on this kid.

i wouldnt consider demarcus a late bloomer at all. his skills were evident very early.
