Doesn’t get much uglier than that and still somehow had a chance to win it, missed field goal comes back to haunt you

That was some awful execution in the last 3 quarters.... They deserved the loss.

Crazy part is if they didn’t lose two touchdowns to penalties they still woulda pulled it off

Also can we not find someone else to kick?

Kinda figured when they lost another. As much as I hated to see him go I hoped he’d be successful out there

Too bad the current situation makes no sense all around to bring him in as an oc or something

Only surprising bit is they didn't wait until Oct 1st. His buyout dropped from $15m to $7.5m after that, so to fire him 3 weeks before that cost them $7.5m. Smh. Maybe they think the interim coach might actually give them a better shot in conference play, lol. Or maybe they just felt they had to react quickly to appease the fanbase, regardless of the cash.

Regarding UCF, brutal loss. Plumlee continues to show why people said Keene was the better passer in camp. My one complaint about him is that he rarely works through his progressions, especially down the stretch. He was locking onto Baker every chance he had. He would have someone wide open over the middle as the play developed but he'd just heave it down field to Baker because that's his guy.

Should've won the game still. Those penalties on those touchdowns were ROUGH. And one of them was something that could be called on every single play of football which is frustrating.

And Obarski shouldn't kick again. Give Colton Boomer the experience and live with his pains as a freshman. I'd rather give him some experience than watch Obarski continue to miss routine kicks and have no shot at anything outside 40 yards.

Should have stayed at UCF, I think he knew it too even as he took that job.

On another note, its ridiculous how much college coaches make.

agreed...would be interesting to know how that alternate time line turns out. Does he end up getting pulled away to TN like Heupel? Does he stay? Does the system continue to work or was it just a flash in the pan kinda thing with the right personnel at the right time.

I guess that's life though.

His stint at Nebraska does make me wonder how much of our success was him and how much of it was just the right players at the right time. Take away Milton and the Griffin twins (specifically Shaquem), all the other great players that went to the pros, and does he have anywhere close to that success in 2017? I'd say probably not.

I will say I think his biggest mistake in Nebraska was sticking with his UCF staff and Chinander as DC for so long. He could've gone out and hired a truly great assistant staff, but he stuck with what he had at UCF. I mean I get it, he had success and believed in them, but he should've been quicker to turn things over after a season or two of lackluster results, especially defensively.

I think he's a good offensive coordinator, and I think he runs a great program in terms of getting player buy-in and building up hype. He was instrumental in turning around the culture at UCF. But head coaching? I'd say he's a big question mark. He only has ONE winning season, and that was the undefeated year. I'll be curious to see where he winds up next. I'm sure a big program would bring him in as an OC, but he'd have to go to a smaller program for a HC gig right now i'm guessing.

Better effort last night against FAU. They cleaned up the penalties and racked up over 600 yards.

Still some head scratching decisions in playcalling, but all things considered it was improvement over last week and that's all you're looking for.

That snap under center was a poor choice and bowser 4th down timeout standout for me

first quarter was still pretty rough and had me worried, glad they cleaned it up.

JRP taking hits like that all game makes me a little concerned about him surviving the season but at this point seems like he's going to have to make a plays

Yea not sure why he went under center all of a sudden.

Biggest surprise for me this season has been Bowser's lack of success. The first two games I thought it was probably the O-Line, but i'm not sure anymore. The other backs are having success, including Harvey and MAR who finally got some snaps. If Bowser doesn't start turning it around, Harvey and MAR should start getting more snaps.

Also Gamble has been pretty absent in the passing game.

I nearly died when ROK dropped that sure fire touchdown throw from JRP. it was a beauty and it just went off his chest. Thankfully we still scored a few plays later.

Overall the team looked a lot better, especially that second half. I'm excited for this weekend as i'll finally be able to attend a game this season, plus tailgating. :D (Assuming Fiona does what they forecast and turns north and back out into the Atlantic).

I was thinking the same about Bowser. His yards after contact this year without looking up the stat seem significantly less. He just seems a step slower.

Which is strange, because he actually looks less bulky. I thought he might've slimmed down to try and get a little more speed and not be such a bruiser on every possession but that doesn't seem to be the case.

One of the best wins of the Malzahn era.

SMU absolutely kicked the crap out of UCF last year and the Knights returned the favor last night with a really spectacular 2nd half.

If that second half team shows up for four quarters we have a shot at every game. Let's hope the team finds their stride and this builds momentum and consistency for JRP. The play calls on throws were better as well. It was fun to watch twitter exploding in disgust at JRP for the first 20 minutes of the game and then for him to figure stuff out and put together a really good game in the end. Just need him to be consistent and this team can go places.

My few complaints on Gus' offense: his trick plays seem half baked sometimes. I don't know if it's execution or design, but the setup is there, and then it falls flat and loses yards. Also, I don't like the huge pass play followed up by rushing to the next play and then running up the middle. I like running the next play quickly, but i would prefer to throw a slant or do a jet sweep instead. Just mix it up a bit more.

JRP needs to put together a full game for us to stand a chance against CIN.
