If Kyrie walks and Horford takes enough of a pay cut, we could have room to sign and trade Rozier to Houston for Capela.. not sure if we’d have to renounce Morris to do it, but 13-14 million for Rozier matches salary - or make it Rozier at 11 million and Theis at 3.. that screams Ainge/Morey trade to me and makes more sense than any of the other options, like Smart/Jaylen for Capela..

I think it's more of the position, right? Rozier is fine, but they have harden & CP3, and can keep Rivers and a bunch of other short dudes. They need a better frontcourt.

I mean, I get how good LeBron & AD are but the Lakers couldn't even make the playoffs in the west last year; as much as I think their young core is a little overrated, I don't see them becoming a juggernaut with just those two guys & not much else. I'm sure they'll fill out their roster but I don't think that puts them head & shoulders above teams like the Rockets, Nuggets, Blazers, etc. Of course the Warriors too, depending on how things shake out for them.

It all depends on Lebron’s health. They were no.4 in west when lebron went down, and could have easily made the playoffs if he was healthy. AD and Lebron could easily beat the blazers, HOU and the nuggets.

Lebron is old and breaking down.

The guy is superhuman, but for the first time just doesn’t bring it every game anymore. What is he, 34-35?

It’s probably over for him.

No chance for terry, but i think marcus morris and one of the earlier firsts is intruiging.

He very much fits the bill for what they're looking for. He can space the floor, defend multiple positons, and even create his own shot off busted plays by Harden/Paul.

Only problem is Houston severely lacks a center

I kept thinking of three team scenarios sending Morris to Houston, #14 and Bob Williams somewhere, and Capela to Boston. The third team sends a big man spacer to houston. Olynyk is an interesting fit but doesnt work salary wise unless they add gordon which wouldn't make sense.

Actually maybe Dwight Powell? Analytics are quite favorable so Morey would like it.

It’s possible Houston thinks they can get bigs in free agency or a separate trade..

Powell opted out, it’d have to be a three-team double sign and trade deal..

Because Houston already has Paul, Harden, Gordon, and possibly Rivers at the guard spot. Rozier doesn't do anything better that the current crop doesn't do already.
They desperately need to fill that Trevor Ariza gap, Tucker is really solid but limited and shouldn't be the premier forward. If they can get that for Capela and get a cheap fix at the 5 it'll balance the team out more.

Rozier has 0 value to them when Paul and Harden aren't leaving anytime soon.

This is where I'm at. He's in the west; it's a battle almost every game. He can't just coast like he did in the east. Bringing AD will help a lot obviously, but unless there's another big move somehow, I don't see them winning it all.

Not if they land AD and sign another major free agent. He can't carry a team by himself anymore for a full season, but he's still one of the league's most dominant players. Adding 2 more stars will allow them to manage his load during the regular season.

They'll walk all over the West next year with LeBron, AD and whoever else they can land. The Warriors won't be competing next year, we've seen what the Rockets can do, the Nuggets don't have the star power, the Blazers aren't a threat.

At this point the East is looking tougher, assuming the 76ers can retain Butler and Kawhi stays.

He's getting up there for sure - he's 34, going on 35 this December. Even if he has a Vince Carter-length career, he's still on the back nine of it. That's why if the motivation in this league is winning chips (which it clearly is not for all), I don't understand why Kyrie is linked to Brooklyn and AD is mired in the idea of playing in LA. Both of these guys could play together in Boston with a well above average supporting cast (Horford, Hayward, Baynes, etc); a roster that has pieces to make future improvements. They'd be setup to be contenders for years to come. They spend half the season on the road anyway & can live wherever they want in the summer. Get out of your own way, bruhs. Take the money and compete in Boston. Instead Kyrie wants to play 3 hours away in Brooklyn & Davis wants to play with papa-Bron I find it hard to believe the off-the-court/sponsorship opportunities change that drastically being in LA/Brooklyn vs. Boston.

Durant would be crazy to not take 5 years at the age of what 31 with the achilles injury. Klay takes the max, too. The Warriors will take next year off of the NBA finals, imo... Rockets will have a real shot at making it there. Irving would be a fool not to come back.
