Simms has been pretty darn good assessing QBs in the past.

I don’t think I want the bears to draft a QB. It’s unlikely that Pace and Nagy save their jobs this year and whoever comes in will probably draft a new QB or go hard after Rodgers or Wilson (and Watson depending on what happens with his situation) unless Pace drafts a star a QB. But give his track record at draft QBs that won’t happen. He’s been great drafting other positions so I him to stick to that so he can build the team for the next GM.

Monds throwing motion is similar to the way Rodgers describes his while in college. He changed and now he’s an all time great. If mond can adjust like that I think he can be really good.

I don't know a whole lot about college football, just glancing at Mond's passing stats and you come away with the conclusion that as a dual threat guy, he has a very long way to go as a passer to become prolific at the NFL level.
He probably has the physical tools (arm strength / size) but his skill level likely has a long way to go as a passer. Maybe there are some extenuating circumstances that make this take unlikely, as I said, I'm not a college expert. Even if you take someone like Lamar Jackson, whom was known mainly as a runner and required quite a bit of NFL development and an offense geared around his strengths, he had considerably better college passing stats.

I caught Mond a few times and didn't walk away too impressed. Got some backup vibes from him, but what do I know? Could've just been (un)lucky enough to catch his bad days. We're in a very precarious position. If we're even entertaining taking a QB that might just only sneak into the backend of the 1st because of the process, I'd rather just mortgage some future picks to move up for a more touted QB prospect namely Fields, Jones, or Lance (but that's probably a pipe dream). We might just end up in the same position next year too where we're 'just' good enough to be out of reach for the premium QB prospects so I don't expect the pain to end anytime soon.

Re: Bears 2019/20; George McCaskey is on the clock
I think the bears will be in play for Julio Jones. They probably offered Gallowday at least 18m and I think the bears would owe Julio about 16.5 in his first year here. Thats just flat out better. Julio is better and they both got injury issues so thats a wash. and in his last two years I think he'd be owed 11.5 each year.
It sounds like the falcons have no choice but to trade Julio and that takes away all leverage. I've heard that they wouldn't be able to sign a lot of their draft picks because of their cap issues and trading julio would save them the most money. I think Julio's value if there's a lot of interest would be somewhere around 4th plus a few later picks.
I think the following teams will be in play for him: Baltimore, 49ers, Washington, New England, Colts, Bengals, Raiders and Bears. I think the Patriots are least likely to trade for him since he gets a pretty decent check and has the injury issues. 49ers next out since they already traded so much for the 3rd. Bengals should try and make a move to add Julio to Chase and the guys they already got but that doesn't seem like a Bengals move. Raiders need a number one and Gruden would probably love Julio but will probably be outbid.
Then there are the Ravens, colts, Washingtons, and Bears. If Washington adds Julio to Samuel and McLaurin all of the sudden you got a dangerous offense to match your defense and you're a QB away from being a true SB contender. Ravens obviously need a WR and Julio would get Lamar close to Mahomes money and they just got some decent trade capital from the Brown trade. The Colts have a SB defense and if Wentz plays like he did in 2017 they'd be a number 1 receiver from being a SB favorite. The bears are desperate to save their jobs, showed that they have interest to adding a second number 1 next to Robinson and will probably be willing to outbid (within reason) the other teams. I think there's a pretty good chance Julio ends up on the Bears. The problem is can they magically make 15/16 in cap appear

Bears should also target the Falcons as a trade partner to move back. Since the Falcons will have trouble signing their picks they may be looking to consolidate their picks. I think they can be convinced to move up especially if there's still a QB on the board and one of Fields or Jones may still be there.
We trade the 1st(20), 6th(221) 6th (228) and 2022 7th (current and future) to get their 2021 2nd(35), 3rd (68), 5th(148) 2022 1st and 4th
After that we draft:
RD 2: Greg Newsome II, CB
RD 2: Dayo Odeyingbo, DE
RD 3: Kyle Trask, QB
RD 3: Gregory Rousseau, OLB
RD 5: Spencer Brown, OT
RD 5: Alaric Jackson, OT
RD 6: Tuf Borland, ILB
RD 6: Chauncey Manac, OLB
Post-draft:
Cut hicks
Some cap hocus pocus
Trade Miller, 4th, and 5th for Julio
Sign Justin Houston to minimum
Sign Casey Hayward to minimum
Dalton/Foles/Trask
Monty/Cohen
Kmet/Graham
Robinson/Julio/Mooney/Goodwin
Leno/Whitehair/Mustiphar/Daniels/please not Ifedi
Edwards/Goldman/Nicols(Odeyingbo/Blackson/Gibson)
Mack/Smith/Trevathan/Quinn (Rousseau/Jones/Attcho/Houston)
Johnson/Trufant/Newsome/Hayward
Jackson/Gibson
We trade the 1st(20), 6th(221) 6th (228) and 2022 7th (current and future) to get their 2021 2nd(35), 3rd (68), 5th(148) 2022 1st and 4th

At this point, I'm ready to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the sh*t show that will be this year's NFL draft.

Going to enjoy the festivities with a buddy of mine who is a browns fan and I can’t wait to be heckled by him.

I'm warming up to the thought of Fields/Lance if they trade up for them. Don't rush the development, let Dalton meander for a year, see what's up with ARob and try and get us a second WR in the draft this year so we have steady weapons for the next 5 years.

I don't know... this year's class of receivers is pretty deep. I'd rather grab the best OT possible in the 2nd round if we're going to take a QB in the 1st. But then again, I'm not super familiar with the OT's and maybe there won't be any good value available in the 2nd.

Best outcome IMO is that Pace drafts O linemen in first couple rounds. Drafting a QB early will is the route that will likely save his job, but only for a year when that pick looks like a bust due to a crappy O-Line.

Re: Bears 2019/20; George McCaskey is on the clock
I have a strong feeling that the 1st round pick will be an Offensive Tackle. We have Dalton starting at QB and he'll need some really solid protection if we're going to have any success. Then we can grab a QB like Mond or Mills in the 2nd round. If there are no decent QB prospects still available in the 2nd round, a CB (Newsome?) would probably be the best option. And a WR in the 3rd?

I'm all for this, too, provided you don't have to reach for somebody. The O line has been a problem for at least 5 years now. They keep trying to patch it together, but it's time they invested some draft capital into it. Just my two cents worth.

Chicago Bears shoudn't draft any QB! They will be sitting behind the legendary Nick Foles and the great hero Andy Dalton!
Waste of a pick! They all getting fired anyways!

I saw that a few days ago, it was surprising to see. When I first started watching the video for a few seconds I thought it was Dan Hampton until I heard him speak. Today he looks similar to my nearly 80 year old father facially.
It took me a moment to realize this was Mongo. After watching the video, I liked his attitude on how he is handling this change of events.

Here's what I want to happen with the bears. They trade out of the first and get an early 2nd and multiple out picks including a 2022 1st. Then they trade back into the first getting the 31st from the Ravens and draft Mond

I've been looking at some of the guys going to the Bears in mock drafts, and I actually really like Teven Jenkins. That kid has a mean streak, which is something our OL could desperately use. I'd also be okay with Darrisaw if he landed in our laps, but I think Jenkins is my favorite at spot 20.
