Loyalty is a funny word because I’d say Damian demanding a trade to 1 of 2 destinations might muddy up the definition. After everything he said recently and the Blazers spending a fortune on Grant (yikes), this is doing them a bit dirty, I’m not taking junk assets that does nothing for my business long term.

32 teams in the league, money talks. Gms turn over, new culture can write it off.

Once one party breaches the trust the other party is released of obligations. And anybody would have given Dame that contract; it's not a substantive act of loyalty to give your best player a big contract. it's not like they could have snubbed him and signed an equivalent player instead. But Dame did have options

Again "money talks" means you have to pony up extra cash to drown out the other noise. That is a material disadvantage.

Did Dame get more from Portland than any other team could pay him?

Honest question. I don’t know. I’m guessing, yes.

More guaranteed at once, sure. But a couple 1+1s would work around it.

I’d like the Blazers to play hard ball. Players will be happy to sign with them again once they’re playing in Seattle. 8-)

I don’t think Dame is extraordinary or unique in anyway in all this. Either positive or negative. All NBA players are exploiting this. This was likely his intention all along, barring some near miraculous ascension with Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant last year.

Feel like they're going to have to address Bird Rights in the next CBA that is obviously very close (lol) - maybe they only transfer in the last year of a player's contract? Otherwise you're right, this is the pattern moving forward.

Ramona tossed in that nugget about Dame also liking the Spurs. That’s the dark horse we have to root for here.
I wouldn't be mad at that. Miami and Philly though? Puke.

A list of 'any contender' is reasonable but pinpointing a specific team is not. I know hes special to the city but literally 99.9% of player can be traded at any minute to any team. Blazers getting the best offer from any contender is doing him a solid. Midds has been an institution here, won us a ring, and signed a reasonable deal. I have no doubt that if we lose in the second round this year we would try to move him. It's part of the 9 figure package you signed up for.
What did they offer him? That team has sucked for a decade.

How does all of this Lillard/Harden drama affect our ability to acquire Immanuel Quickley and Terrance Mann? That’s what I want to know. We need to see what Peak Transition Basketball looks like.

4/56 for Reaves? Seriously? He needs to fire his agents immediately lol. How is he getting less than Max Strus?

I imagine the allure of Lebron in LA played a part. He will continue to get a ton of attention off the court.

I'm bearish on the Pacers, don't think they've had a good offseason at all. They needed to either consolidate some of their developmental guys and picks or cash in on their vets.

I mean, their cap lands in about the same place as the Bucks after the Reaves contract. They signed people and then extended their Bird Rights contracts. They aren't trying to land in the 2nd apron either.

Thanks, I am having trouble making sense of a lot of these contracts. It seems like lunacy but of course there’s a logic behind it.

HOU must have some money to spend now. I wonder what their plan is now that Brook is off the table.

I think that Bucks fans are just dealing with the realities of having 3 players making over 30M a year. The exciting move already happened and we are living in the afterglow of the Jrue move and championship. The Lakers signed a lot of 4-10M dollar contracts because they only had the Lebron and AD contracts as the big money contracts on their roster.

Giannis will be making 45.6M, Jrue 36.8M, Khris 31.4M, and Brook 23M (Est).

For the Lakers? Lebron 47.6M, AD 40.6M, and then it drops pretty steeply to DLo now making 17.7M (And this is a bird rights contract similar to Brook's). They fit in Vincent (10.4), Prince (4.5M), and Reddish (2.1M) before doing the contracts that you are able to go over the cap for.

Pat Bev to Philly is an upgrade over Harden.
