Re: Trades and Transactions Ideas Thread
As for Hartenstein: I feel like 4years/70-80million is a fair range for him. I think a team would have to go 4years/100mill.+ for him to seriously consider leaving the team. The Knicks can do different types of deals with opt outs and promise him more money next offseason. I'm not really that worried about him leaving as I believe Rose will make him stay.
That said, I wouldn't do anything crazy to keep him. I'm no cap expert but if I understand the cap correctly, overpaying for guys is going to be even more punitive today than years ago. Despite all his strengths in rebounding, blocking shots, passing etc. he is very limited on offense and not likely to have any offensive game outside lay-ups, dunks and that little floater. Worth 18-20mill. a year? Sure. Worth 25mill. a year? No!
But here is the most important thing---something that has not been talked about a great deal but is still important: Hartenstein does have chronic Achilles issues. In february, March and April he was averaging 26minutes a game DESPITE Mitch being mostly out. He averaged like 9points/8rebounds during those months. He rested the entire last summer and declined playing for Germany because of his Achilles. It is obvious this is a chronic issue. If a team offers him 25million a year and plans on him playing 30+ minutes for an entire season, they will soon find out that they have a bad contract on their hands.
He has found his home here and we can make a competitive offer. The fans love him and with Mitch he is in a perfect situation where he can play 24-26minutes on a title contender. He will stay.

Brunson/?
Bridges/DDV
OG/Hart
Towns/OG/Achiuwa
Mitch/Towns
Your 2025 NBA champions.
BTW...another point that should put the Towns talk to rest for now is Minnesota itself. They have made it clear they are going to bring that team back. They aren't trading any core part of their team after a WCF loss which mainly came down to inexperience. So I don't even understand how people keep discussing Towns. Maybe after a dissapointing playoff loss next season they would consider a shake-up....but certainly not after their current run where they swept Phoenix and dethroned the champs.

she runs the letstalkknicks account and has time stamps of showing proof she knew about the cavs wanting johnny bryant. but some of the stuff she says.. like us being trying to get bam and jjj sounds unrealistic. so she probably doesnt know much. but im just posting it anyways since we dont have much rumors about us

Only way Ingram makes sense is to re route him to Brooklyn for Bridges. We send out McBride as well and get Alvarado.

That deal is terrible though for the Pelicans. Maybe if you add 3 FRPs or so they'd consider it but surely they can do better than Mitch and Bogs for Ingram. They have McCollum at the 2, Jones/Murphy at the 3 and Zion at the 4. If they trade Ingram they'll need a starting caliber PG or Center that can score points. That deal above would be suicide for them.
I'd be shocked if the Pelicans trade Ingram without getting a star PG back----Garland, Trae or Murray IMO. Cleveland or Atlanta and New Orleans make for near perfect trade partners unfortunately. Atlanta could dangle Murray/Capela. Cleveland could dangle Garland/Allen in any potential deal.

Yeah I think it would go without saying that we would need to send picks

People need to get real with Randle trades, dude was atrocious in the start of the season, shooting 20% and still managed to end up with 24ppg. He was bullying teams before the injury. I just don't see how u trade Randle and get better, the players that would make that scenario a thing aren't being traded.
Shooting 20% and still ending up with 24ppg is not a good thing for the team. Just means he's taking and missing way too many shots to get to 24ppg.

If Warriors are resigned to losing Klay, they can get something back that helps them in Mitchell Robinson.
Can give Klay a 2 year 50mil deal, becomes continuous soup and he's a much better version of Bogey.
I feel like value is a little light to us, but thought i'd open it up for discussion.
I'm all for trading MRob but the problem is we don't have a legit center to take his place because people are fooling themselves if they think IHart is going to re-sign with us and turn down all the money he'll get offered from multiple other teams. The most we can offer him is 4 yrs at like $74 mil and he'll get 4 year offers closer to $90-$100 mil from other teams. He's not going to turn money like that down with his first chance in his career of earning that kind of money.

The list is basically Orlando and Utah, if you assume both teams are interested and iHart is also interested.
I'll bet you whatever team gets him lets him start shooting 3 pointers. The guy has a good enough shot to make some 3's but......Thibs.

If getting a legit starting center was so easy we wouldn’t have gone like 10 years without one.
I joined here in the dark undersized days after Camby and before Tyson. Then we got Mitch years after Tyson who looked promising, but just hasnt developed and cant stay healthy.
Camby, Tyson, and Mitch were all great defenders, but offered little on offense outside of dunks. Isaiah is a hell of a passer, got the floater, and has potential as a shooter, all while being top notch as a rebounder and defender himself.
Who are we going to get to replace Isaiah? A 25th pick in a weak draft? Of course it’s possible as Isaiah and Mitch were 2nd rounders themselves, but they are the exception clearly.
We did sign iHart away from the clippers so maybe there’s another gem out there… MLE signing, trades using Mitch/Bogs, trades using picks, drafting a center, etc… there are ways… This front office has contingencies in place no doubt.
Sure, but who?
Look around the league. What attainable under the radar center gems are there? I looked and there isn’t much, and none better than Isaiah who we know already fits.
We got Mitch so we dont need another pure rim runner. Isaiah is more than that, and can still get better.
Whatever happens happens though. Isaiah took a 2 year deal knowing we wouldnt have his full bird rights. We can still offer him 18 mill a year, which is a very fine offer, but he can easily get 20-25 with the new CBA and cap hikes coming. If he goes we’ll just have to have faith we can strike gold again.
Some names that will be out there.
Jonas Valanciunas
Richaun Holmes
James Wiseman
N.Claxton
Moritz Wagner
Daniel Theis
Masom Plumlee
Alex Len

No. He's a stat padder but not a winning player and he comes at max value. Been saying this on here for years.

If the Knicks are serious about keep Hart, they will do it. There are many potential options on the contract extension. However I hope they don't overpay too much. Going 100mill. for Hart would be a crazy overpay. No way he is worth 25mill. a year. A deal giving him 18mill. a year is already fair....20mill. is a slight overpay but I'd do it still...but going way above that ultimately sets you up for failure.
Here is a list of comparable big man and what they earn:
Zubac 11mill.
Nurkic 17mill.
Horford 10mill.
Valanciunas 15mill.
Allen 20mill.
Naz Reid 13mill.
Poeltl 20mill.
Turner 20mill.
Carter jr. 13mill.
And keep his chronic Achilles issues in mind. He was not able to go above 26/27 minutes a game despite Mitch being out and had to be load managed. Shelling out significantly more than 4years/80mill. is cap suicide.

We dont have the space for Claxton or Jonas, and Isaiah is better anyway.
The rest of them are clearly not as good, and only mediocre backups at best.
Im also talking about trade candidates. There just isnt much out there. Fans have a grass is greener syndrome and dont realize what they have on their own team. We need to keep Isaiah, unless we really do have some great alternative lined up.
