While I understand the reasons behind the trade, this is why I will always miss him, just like I did KG when he got traded.
The good news is at least this trade kept us contenders. . . Oh Al Jefferson

I found this article appropriate. Man I am glad we decided we didn’t need a young, defensive focused, athletic wing, on a minimum contract with full bird rights. Not like anyone could tell that he just needed minutes to develop.

It's kind of crazy how much success Minott, NAW, and Garza are having. Minott and Garza were just victory cigars here.

NAW always had starter level potential, and when used in a better system was always likely to shine. Garza is someone I don’t see a long term future for in the NBA. His defense cannot keep him on the court in the playoffs. Minott was the variable, and I always believed there was a hybrid of Jaden and V8 just waiting for a chance to emerge. What you are seeing speaks to the failures of Finch’s schemes and coaching philosophies.

I've always believed that Garza was good enough on offense to negate his liability on defense and be in a rotation. He's doing just fine for Boston.

Re: Updates on former Wolves
I fully reject that Josh Minott is “defense focused”, that was the primary reason why he could not get minutes here. He has been a mixed bag defensively in Boston as well, though hopefully he improves.
The truth is that Minnesota was a contender last season and has a deep lineup. Boston is crumpled with injuries, so they have a wealth of minutes to invest in young players.
Similarly, Minnesota is the team that helped Nickeil Alexander-Walker develop into a full-MLE player. Citing him as an example of failed development is absurd, especially when people were complaining about Rob Dillingham not getting minutes (because NAW was getting starting-level minutes).

and most importantly - he gets to play the 4, which is the one position where we don't really have even a single minute available. I always felt like his best path would be doing Vando hustle stuff with a little more life from the arc.

Yeah I won't worry that we let a big-timer go quite yet. He feasted last game mostly off of Bagley just completely ignoring him and was able to knock down open shots, but he hasn't been super effective yet against good teams. His motor is consistently EXCELLENT though, and that's one thing I definitely envy.

He's shooting 31% from 3. Right on his career average.
And he literally can't defend anyone without fouling. He's averaging 8 PF per 36 minutes...

I'm guessing that's his NBA career average in very small sample size. It seemed like he hit 40% in Iowa, but maybe I'm wrong. I'll venture his 3 point percent will go up the rest of the season as long as he continues to get minutes.

Its 170 career attempts. Not a ton, but almost twice what he took in any single season of college.
FR: 16/46, 35%
SO: 21/72, 29%
JR: 39/109, 36%
SR: 44/100, 44%
Also, if you're a big that can't play any defense, your offense has to be near All-Star level to be rotation worthy. You can't "hide" bigs on defense.

That first year with the Iowa Wolves he shot 32-68 (.470) in 15 games. The second year, he played in 3 games and shot 6-18 (.333).

I was thinking Iowa Wolves G League. 44% combined. His 3 point percentage will go up.

He shot the 3 well in college, but I was thinking about G League where he shot 44%.
