But the most impressive part is his all-around game. The passing, rebounding, steals, movement with and without the ball, the cutting, the court awareness, all this is what separates him from just pure shooters. Even the defense has come around as he's keeping guys in front of him. Once he gets stronger, he's going to be damn a good player for a long time.

Yup. He's been pigeon-holed as a shooter but there has always been much more to his game. I said in the PG thread, once his body catches up to his skills and mind, I'm not even going to try to guess a ceiling.

Only here. Only by the usual suspects.

The kid won Gatorade player of the year in HighSchool and if you look, that award has a long list of very impressive players beside its name. Complete players. He was great at Kansas as a freshman. And I thought he played well all year so far with the only trailing part being his early shooting, and finding the speed of the game.

The guy has some very real potential. Lets see how he does the when he hits his first slump and how he responds.

I mentioned the Gatorade POY before. I think the rebuttal was something like, "yeah, it was an awful year for US high school ball."

Can't make it up, can't win with some people.

Lol. That's just funny. James, Beal, Simmons, Tatum, Howard, Towns and on and on. Its a list of mostly allstars and some busts. And he's not a bust.

And RJ Barrett.

In Feb: 11.4 ppg in 20.5 mins with shooting splits of 56/50/86, 71 TS%. And he started the month with a 1-8 game.

It's nuts.

Obviously not sustainable, but a great bounce back.

He'll obviously see a regression soon, hopefully there isn't a sudden swing in "he's a bust again" and we take a shooting regression as we would with any other player.

Technically, we're already seeing his response to a slump. He'll have this to reflect on in the future if his shot abandons him again...we as fans will also know that he's got it in him.

He will slump at some point for sure, the thing to keep an eye on for him will be how long will his slumps last for, and will the other parts of his game still be there when his shot's not dropping.

It's cool to see him grab key rebounds, get timely steals, take charges and make plays out of nowhere on a consistent basis, because those are the things you should be able to count on night in and night out even when the shots don't go.

Aaron Wiggins says it's sustainable; 58/52/78 with a TS% of 69%, through 54 games.

His early NBA career slump definitely felt like something that was physically related, both in conditioning and strength, which then turned into a mental thing. His shooting form has always been good but he needed a bit more oomph for the NBA 3 pt line. I expect the Raps to lock him in the gym and do conditioning drills for the offseason.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Obviously, he'll be scouted. Gradey won't keep getting those wide open looks that he's now burying effortlessly (unlike Gary :nonono: ). But Dick has the length to rise above a closeout, and he flashed a nice sidestep in this game. He's clearly not afraid to pump fake and take it to the rim.

Not worried.

I cant remember if it was here or IRL but I said I wanted Dick to stay on the bench until he just forces you to start him because he jus shows you he is to good. He is approaching that territory
