Sniff well we decided we’d bring the team back after last years success. snifff Jett & AB are going to do fine, we’re growing organically. Other teams usually build around weaknesses sniffff but we’re different and we hope other teams take notice.

Because we have enough data that Suggs cant play PG in a halfcourt setting. He cant even run a basic pick & roll under pressure & doesnt have the handle to create there much. Players have skill sets at this age and they dont magically become different players just because the team plays them in that role or the team/fans wants them to become that kind of player. Same logic had our FO thinking AG becomes a wing scorer, despite his skill set saying otherwise.
AB is a different thing, because we have no data yet.

and then look when it counts. Suggs 40% from 3 all season, 29% from 3 in the playoffs. he isnt as good under pressure creating his own shot.

I swore we were talking about young kids learning and growing. Haha. There could be a YET appended to any statement. Showed confidence in season.... Shrank underneath the big lights. Experience. Let's see where that takes him next. Same way people wanted to trade him cuz he was a bust a year ago... And now.... He's part of the core as a defensive beast .... And second team all defense in his third season. Looks like they tasked him with something... And he might have achieved it... Now time to continue refining it.

The only guy that signed elsewhere I wanted is Hartenstein and he got a front-loaded deal for more than the Magic had left to offer.

Sure, after KCP we had only $30.495123 M left to offer Hartenstein, but we could have offered bigger deal. Maybe not frontloaded, but more guaranteed money.

I'm just going to zoom in on Suggs improving ball handling, Franz improving three point shooting, and Paolo improving ball control.

I'm ignoring AB unlocking playmaking and Jett unlocking microwave scoring.

Paolo shouldn’t have to lead the team in rebounding on top of everything else.

I would say the primary reason people wanted Hartenstein is because he’s an A+ defender combined with the fact that signing him could have allowed the Magic to comfortably move Carter, who theoretically is a valuable trade asset.

Just rebounds though….

1 - not "everyone" wanted Hartenstein.
2 - Claxton also brings shot blocking/rim protection.
3 - we have 2 centers under contract that combined make about what Nurkic makes. why would you add picks to any trade for him?

Signing IHart outright made Carter available for a trade to upgrade the roster elsewhere instead of re-signing Gary Harris.

Trading assets + Carter for an older more injured Center defeats the purpose now that they resigned Goga.

Hartenstein is an elite defender while Nurkic is a bad one, not sure what is confusing you. And also it's not true that Hartenstein has zero offensive game, he is a really good passer for a big and his floater is quite reliable.
