Yea, the talent is undeniable but i think he would have been better served playing a couple years in Spain and refining his game before going to Milwaukke. Let's hope playing in the D-League can do the trick.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Yannis obviously is a talented player, but he does not seem close of playing in a nba team. Frankly I don't think he is ready to get significant minutes even on a first division Greek team. The Bucks have to think what is the better course for his development,

a) integrate him with the team and try to improve him through team practices
b) put him in nbdl
c) leave him in Europe for a couple of years to mature

Greece vs Montenegro at 5:30 a.m. - Milwaukee time.

If they win they'll play the winner of Lithuania vs Turkey(7:45 a.m.) for #4/5 in the U20, lose-loser(5:30 a.m, Sunday) for #7/8.

I doubt the consolation round is televised at all. But maybe the winners will be.

Nope.
The games left with TV coverage are only semifinals and medal games.

Would anyone that understands care to translate this for me? [tweet]https://twitter.com/GAdetokunbo/status/358304522482884608[/tweet]

I'd appreciate it. Imagine his post is somehow related to the outcome of the game today and moving forward.

He got a few responses, whatever the case.

The reason that google translation doesnt work, is that the message is on Greenglish (use the latin alphabet to write Greek, a bad habit that started like 15-20 years ago when the PC's couldnt recognize the Greek alphabet).

The translation: ''When you manage to go this far there is no way to quit and get disappointed. Effort until the end. ''

I guess that he is talking about the games that will judge the 5-8 places

Giannis back on track for a triple double in the pretty meaningless match against Montenegro. 5-6-2 after 10mins and keeps dominating in the 2nd. Greece has been blowing out Montenegro so far, up by 18 now (32-14) after 12mins

It's too bad they didn't beat Turkey on Thursday as they could have been playing for 1-4 instead of 5-8

They should have won that match, that said Russia could beat Spain today, then maybe they're proven a tougher team.I haven't seen them play so I don't know how they'd matchup with Greece.

I did notice the refs put Greece on lock down and let Spain pick them apart on a different set of rules, as emunney pointed out game day. That was just as upsetting as Greece going down 18-0 to Turkey, pulling in and losing due to bad mistakes.

Spain just beat Russia after all. 63-70. Maybe they would have been able to get past the latter.

If the season started today, Giannis probably would be the starting SF by default. Delfino recovering from surgery, which I guess I didn't know about.

Delfino on mend: Carlos Delfino underwent surgery in early May to repair a broken bone in his right foot.

The forward believes he will be back in time for training camp as he returns to the Bucks, following one year with the Houston Rockets.

"My goal is to be ready for training camp," Delfino said Friday from Buenos Aires, where he was helping youngsters at a Basketball Without Borders camp in his home country. "I will try to be smart."

Delfino was playing with a small fracture in his foot when he was injured further in Game 5 of an opening-round playoff series against Oklahoma City. He had surgery four days later in New York, performed by orthopedic surgeon Martin O'Malley, a member of the Brooklyn Nets medical staff.

"They said it would take four months," Delfino said of a recovery period.

Delfino said he learned a lot "playing for a legend" in Rockets coach Kevin McHale.

The 6-6 Delfino averaged 10.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in a reserve role for a young Houston team that exceeded expectations.

He said he feels comfortable with the new coaching staff in Milwaukee and is excited after playing with the Bucks from 2009-'12.

"I tell people it's like having an old girlfriend and then you go back," Delfino said.

Delfino is helping to train 50 of the top youth players in the Americas at this week's camp, and he also tutored 40 of the top girls basketball players in Argentina at Friday's session.

A community event is scheduled Saturday and an all-star game will conclude the camp Sunday.

Other NBA stars from Argentina, including Luis Scola, Manu Ginobili and Pablo Prigioni, also are at the camp.

Delfino said he is taking a break from national team duties this summer but hopes to play in the FIBA World Cup in Spain next year.

"Next year we want to make a last run," he said of the players in Argentina's golden generation, a group that claimed basketball gold in the 2004 Athens Olympics and has been a top international contender for more than a decade.

Someone needs to ask what the development plan is in place for Giannis. It doesn't make any sense to declare "No D-League!" in July. When Ersan was an 18 year old rookie the Bucks hired an English tutor and had staff down in Tulsa with him all the time. If Giannis is not playing at all it's not enough for the Bucks just to say "It's good to have him around the team" Practice becomes a much different place once the season starts. I just hope there is some transparency with the developmental program, D-league or not.
