Remember: Despite the rumored $10M contract, Birdman would only eat up $915,243 of cap space this year.

As long as it's closer to $8M than $9M, that's good value for Almario Vernard.

Outside of McBob and Bosh, Riley is looking to make this team a solid vet team that competes and then 2016, he can do it one more time. I like it!

Bosh-Birdman-Oden
McBob-UD
Deng-Granger-
Wade-Ennis
Mario-Cole-Shabazz

Maybe Beasley? Hamilton?

My god. I would do anything just to build a time machine and somehow get D-Wade from 08/09 to this team right now and maybe even get 08/09 Granger too if there's still room for him to fit in the machine. i wish we had this supporting cast back then instead of JO and Q-Rich's scrub **** :(

Who exactly do you guys think we are in play for, outside of Durrant and Lebron their isn't a name worth splurging on or making a difference. Unless...Durrant pulls a Lebron, it this really what we are lining ourselves up for?

There are people who can opt out

Like Dwight Howard lol

If Rockets get knocked out in the first and second rounds again he is bolting

Honestly even if Dwight is available I dont see Pat targeting him. He has questionable leadership traits and doesn't exactly have the integrity that we require in the locker room. Basically he is not a Riley guy...neither was #6 but you have to take a chance for that guy...

I can though see Pat throw the Brinks truck at KD or KLove if either of them are available...Kevin Durant is not farfetched, its Miami and its a chance to play with Bosh and in a Championship-level Org...[/quote

If Pat can go after Lance (which he did, but he turned down our low offer), he can target Dwight

Nah Durant is not coming here. He has a higher chance to go to Washington... Cause it's come lol. He stays in OKC tho

I'm just saying it looks as if we are pegging ourselves into a rather interesting position here. We struck lighting in a bottle in 2010, that will probably never happen ever again. I like that we will compete, I like that we aren't giving in, but I am afraid we are setting ourselves up for a decade of mediocrity. Who knows maybe Riley can convince Durrant, and Howard to team up with a then 32 year old Bosh, and 34 year old Wade, but I highly doubt it. Its really difficult to adjust from dynasty mood back down to were we are now, but it is, what it is

Decade of mediocrity? Decade? You've gotta trust Pat and Micky to put a quality product on the floor. They've got a good track record.

I want rings this whole 45-50 wins business is great an all, but realistically the best we can hope for with our current roster is the ECF. If we got there every single one of us would be estatic. Doesn't that bother you guys in the least? We are probably locked into Wade and Bosh for the next 5 or so years, we will win games sure, we will make the playoffs wooo, but rings are a farcry. If you ask me I would have scraped the entire thing down, and started hording draft picks. I would do what 76ers have done, what the Cavs did. We are in a premier FA destination, I think it would have been wise to have young talent, and put ourselves in a position where we are one player away. Unfortunately for the next 5 years we most likely won't see a lottery pick so the chances of grabing the next star for this franchise are slim and none.

I assume Deng will take Rashard's No. 9.

Will Mario revert back to No. 6 now?

Some of you don't do much reading and just like to bitch and moan a lot... it's already been explained too many times what the plan is, why these contracts are being handed out and the value of those contracts once they become expiring contracts next offseason that can lead to draft picks and players.

Stop thinking about what the skillset of the player is and start thinking about the value of the contract when teams are going to be calling Riley looking to trade for a 4 million expiring, 5 million expiring, 10 million expiring and so on and so forth. If Riley had just tanked and signed no one we wouldn't have any of these assets to trade and we would have to wait years to compile draft picks especially since next year we don't own one.

We do this while remaining competitive still, second round ceiling this coming season, maybe even ECF, but Riley definitely has a plan and I think it has more to do with 2015 free agency than 2016.
